Has anyone actually changed their lug nuts?
My search turned up many threads speaking to that, but couldn't find anyone who did it. Padre ruined mine, I am starting to slowly get ready for next year. Lug nuts are my first job.
I saw some on ebay, but looked cheap. Don't want cheap...
I am thinking strongly about solar panels as well, don't want the glue down ones I heard about.
Thanks!

Ozz, I did change mine. Got them from a local tire shop. After being on the beach in Mexico last winter for 10 days they are showing a little rust now. Need to be taken off and cleaned.
Got your email.

Ozz,
I changed our lug nuts in July with Torq 'N Go lug nuts. They work as advertised; torque them at 120 ft. lbs. and they hold well. I've got over 2,000 miles on the rig since changing the lug nuts and I'm satisfied with them. They cost around $17.00 for a pkg of eight. I've yet to determine if they will rust. They look fine.

Thanks guys, appreciate it. I am debating stainless or plated chrome.
Orv, I read about the Torque and go, I like the concept, as long as the rust factor is addressed. I am not planning on any more South padre, so my risk is lower for rust.
My lug nut metal is flaking, they are so rusted.

Same here, I got the McGard 64805 lug nuts. Lug Nuts Costly but very good.
A lot of my solar components came from Arizona Wind and Sun. They were great to work with.
I think 7.3Ford used the stick down solar panels. He would be a good source for info on them.

Thank you both.
I have narrowed my search to the McGards, they are double Nichol plated with a chrome 3rd plating. Priced them from $31.19 to 39.99-(Jegs) with $9.95 shipping. (per 8)
I want the bolt-on panels, just like the idea better, I bet the stick-on's are great, just my personal choice.
Thanks for the tip on Arizona Wind and Sun.

Or you can take another approach. I had noticed that the lug nuts were really looking shoddy on the 3400RL with rust, etc. that had occurred after the warranty expired. So I figured if I could get a new warranty, then I would at least not have to worry about the lug nuts for a year. Of course, the small detail was to get the warranty there had to be a new rig. Oh well, at least the lug nuts are not rusted for now!!

Ha! You did get a new rig! Nice move.
So, breking down the new rig cost to per lug nut prices.... 'spensive, hope mine are cheaper.

We got ours at Discount Tire for a dollar a piece. If they rust I'll go get more.

Ozz, at the rally in Goshen we had Tredit Tire and Wheel come by and this subject came up. The quote I heard from them was around 2.00 each for Stainless Steel. Call Tredit in Goshen and ask, it couldn't hurt... Dave

Dennis, after changing all mine, Then checking them with my torque wrench I won't want to revisit that chore anytime soon.
Thanks Dave, I like the stainless idea, but they don't shine as well as the Chrome ones. If I was on the coast, I would definitely go with them.

Ozz,
I have two (2) aluminum wheels and the lug nuts work well with them. Why do I have two aluminum wheels? I've had four aluminum wheels that leaked around the valve stem (small hairline cracks). Had one aluminum wheel that split near one of the seams. Now I have two (2) steel wheels also.

I have thought about that, and I feel the steel wheels are probably better, but those aluminum, or alloy wheels, really look nice.
