08 Ford upfitter switches
Ok found the switches and they all have power. Can find NO prints for the 08 switches and the earlier ones are a bit different.. There is only the hot wire...what do we use for ground?? Is it internal????.. We are hooking up our CB, Rear view Cam, Tire pressure system.

Ground should be CHASSIS or battery post.

Rich,
On vehicles, all metal is ground typically. Unlike the Monatana, you feed with the hot and ground to the nearest available spot.
Because the Montana is 98% non-conductive, it is just easier for them to run all the grounds back to a common spot.

I just thought that since they have the power hanging out there they might have also provided a ground point for the upfitter switch's.. There is none handy...I will use what I can find....

Rich. How about a picture of your C.B. installation when you get it completed. I am still trying to decide where to mount our C. B.

It is very crowded up front in the 08 F-350. I would like to have the Monitor at eye level but there is no place for it. If on the dash it gets to hot and there is too much glare. The Cb is a Mini CB bought at Radio Shack..59.95..Not fancy but it works good. CB is on Upfitter switch 3 and the Cam monitor is on Switch #4. Hadto give the cup holder but there are twomore on the consule. The Cb is velcroed on for easy removal.

Nice Mod Rich. Did you figure out that the top 2 screws are accessed from behind? I didn't, I broke the screw mounts pulling mine off....Moron...(Me, not you). It is a great place for the TV Monitor, I find that when I wear polarized sunglasses, I have to tilt my head a little to see the screen because of the horizontal Polarization effect. I think I will find some non-polarized lenses.
Good job on the C.B. install. What antenna did you go with? I used the glass mount in my old truck, it did fairly well, but it needed tuning, I was too cheap to buy the meter at Radio Shack, and too thick headed to use the meter on my Cobra. I haven't installed mine, let us know how yours does.
Nice truck.

We recycled the window mount ant we had on the 05 Ford and we had a SWR meter laying around. Peaked it for chan 19 since that is where we use it the most, .Other than having to glance down a bit to see the monitor it is in a good spot, no glare. We ran the wires under the carpet(just a tiny little hole to feed the wires through was required) and tie raped them in with a bundle that was near the blunt wires. My top two screws were snap in's, must have changed that. Now to find a place for the Tire pressure monitor. I think on tne top lip of the dash..that is about the only sort of flat place on the dash..sure is crowded in there.. My gages go in Thursday.

Rich. You will have to sign up for a two week school just to be able to read and understand all of the gauges within your cab. That CB install is probably the best location to mount it. Where are your other gauges going. On my 05 F-250 I had mounted the EGT gauge on the drivers pillar below the grab handle using a custom molded color matching plastic frame that fit over the pillar. It looked very professional; like it came with the truck. On the 08 it appears that the grab handle on the drivers pillar is mounted lower and there is not enough room for an EGT gauge there.

The number of switches and gauges is ridicules. Because it is so crowded I am getting ONE gauge to do everything and it will be mounted on the dash just below the pillar. It will look like this. The EGT sensor will also feed into the display.

Rich, I would suggest installing fuses matching your loads, the upfitter switch fuses are pretty large, and hard to get at in the fuse box. You would have to hire a contortionist to get at them and change one, IF you could locate it. I fused all of my loads where I can easily get at them.
