Spring 2017 Yellowstone trip plans
Getting ready to do reservations for:
Colorado - Cheyenne Mountain State Park - 4 nights
Grand Tetons - Colter Bay RV Park - 4 nights
Yellowstone NP - Fishing Bridge RV Park - 7 nights
any experience or recommendations for sites would be appreciated.
Also travel suggestions between Dallas TX and YNP.
Thanks

Yes I have a suggestion. Since you are going that way plan to stay in the Rockey Mountain NP a few days. It is a beautiful park. It will take your breath away at 12,000 feet.

Did all 3 two years ago.
Fishing bridge is close together, but we did not spend much time there.
Cheyenne mountain is great. A lot of hiking trails, and a great campground.
Colter bay is great as well. Again did not spend much time at the campsite. Go see the BarJ Wranglers in Jackson.

I stayed at fishing bridge in 2014. I had a 2980 at 33.5 feet then. I barely was able to get in to my spot. I had to pull forward and back about 3 times. And each time, I had to pull into a gap between the trees about 4 feet in order to get room to back up again. I think with your longer rig, you may not fit. It may depend on which site you get and I don't remember if you can request anything or just get assigned a site when you arrive.
Fishing Bridge is a VERY convenient place to see the park from tho.
West Yellowstone has Grizzly RV Park with is very nice with large sites and very clean. Also, has a cross country ski trail right out the back of the park - it is miles long if you like hiking.

Fishing Bridge in Yellowstone is extremely tight so if you have a big 5er with slides, getting it in to the site will take some time. It's just too cramped for us and one of the RV parks in West Yellowstone gives you breathing room with a short drive to the park entrance. Grizzly RV Park is full service and very well kept.

I have not stayed at Fishing Bridge (yet) but have looked into it. When making reservations you choose a site based on length; 30' or less, 35' or less, or 40' or less.

I have stayed at Grizzley Park. It's beautiful but I hated it. Too far from the park. My favorite is Madison. It's just off the Madison River. In the west center of the park. I like to stay in the park.

Fishing bridge is very tight! The trailer didn't really fit in the spot we had and there was essentially no outside lounging area. That said I don't think they plan on you really hanging around the site and why would you. We have said that the next time we go we will consider staying outside the park for the benifit of a larger site and not having to tow through the park at 25 miles an hour haha.
