San Antonio Area CGs
I live in San Antonio and rarely stay in local CGs but I am heading to the Alsatian RV Resort and Golf Course near Castroville for a few days. I play golf there and watched the resort being built--really did not know it was for RVs! Well it looks great--concrete pads, mini-casitas, restaurant, spa, pool, and golf course. And Castroville is a neat small town! Check it out!

We have been in Garner State Park since October and will be here until April. We are volunteering as camp hosts. We have been into San Antonio 3 times and have really enjoyed the Christmas lights on the river walk. There is a lot to do and see in San Antonio. We want to go up in the tower next time we go. We have seen the Alamo and Sea World. Is there anything you can recommend as a "don't miss?"

The tour of the 'other' missions in San Antonio was very interesting to us.

I agree with navybanker--see the other Missions--very historic. Also nearby towns like Fredericksburg, Comfort, Bandera in the hill country.

Stop in D'Hanis. Hwy 90 W of Hondo. At the blinking yellow light, turn north across the RR tracks and look to the left. Bill and Rosa's restaurant. Google it.
Great place to eat and the chicken fry Bill does is to die for. Especially the cheesy fry. Take a chicken fry steak, cover with shredded cheese and bacon bits, melt it all together...Yummmmmm. BYO burger is as good as it gets.
There is entertainment on the W/E's in the evening. Ronnie Mason is great.
Make sure you watch your speed. D'Hanis is a known speed trap of the county constable.

We have been through D'Hamis on the way to San Antonio. Got some pictures of the old hotel and other buildings and had planned on going back. You just gave me another reason.
