I have the winch from H F as Ozz has, its good for about 2 or 300 lbs. and with the snach block it doubles, I got mine on sale 4 years ago for 49.00 now it is 79.00 glad I got it then. I use it to lift heavy items into the floored attic in the shop, I use round tubing because it will allow the winch to find center of the pull.
I also lift my hitch out of the truck with the trailer leaving it connected to the pin, but the Reese hitch is a far cry at being as heavy as the hitch you have.

I like to leave it hooked up to the trailer when I am on the road. The only problem with this is a little more effort to get it back in. The best way I have found is to let my 22 yr old son take it out. He thinks he is Charles Atlas, but it is sure easy for me.
