The weather was great today, so I installed the awning lock. Even I could do it. Guess where the drilled hole had to go, right where one of the three rivets goes. I had to drill the rivet out, enlarge the hole and the lock works great. They give you two pop-rivets along with the 3 self-tapping screws. I didn't have my pop-rivet gun with me, so I'll have to make another trip to my storage area.
I also installed an IOTA Smart Charge module. The hardest part was finding the IOTA converter.(in the basement behind the wall next to the furnace)

Mine also came to where there is a rivet. Instead of drilling it out, I just raised the bottom stops on the awning arms by one notch, this changed the position where the lock pin came on the roller. The problem I have had since is that my awning almost never seems to roll up to the exact same place. I think it depends on temperature and/or humidity. I usually have to a bit of jiggling around to get it to engage. I may eventually have to drill a second hole.

John,
It was recommended to let the awning roll "SLAP" back when within 1 foot of the up position. That may help in the alignment.

Yes, we tried that. The problem is that it seems to be different each time I roll it up. Sometimes it rolls past the hole, sometimes it does not reach the hole. The fabric seems to change from day to day, that is why I thought it may be a temperature related thing.

John,
I fixed that problem by moving the vinyl within the track until I found the spot where the 'rails' line up (had to roll/unroll the awning several times). I then put a black mark line on the roller next to the vinyl near the trip lever. Every time I roll the awning up, I make sure the vinyl is lined up with the black line. The awning lock hits the hole every time, now.
Hope this helps.
