Can anyone recommend a leak-proof water hose quick connector?

I have been getting them from Home Depot, but after a couple of months, the O rings are so badly deteriorated that they start to leak - and one of the O rings doesn't look like it can be replaced.

Michael,

I use the quick connects on everything that I can. I got mine from Harbor Freight. I've had them for several years with no deterioration of the "O" rings.

I got mine from ACE Hardware. Been using them for 4 years now with no problems.

I use the one that comes with the hose. Screw it on, screw it off. Only takes 20 seconds, or less, each way.

Edited: I saw one on the RV Doctor television show a few months back. It screwed on to the hose and then just pushed on to the spigot. Darn thing stopped the leak that the regular screw on had. Same hose, same spigot and it worked. Can't even find the name of the one he used. I'd like to have a few of them. It was green in color.

I have used ACE for 5yrs now. Do have an extra pac of "O" rings for replacement when necessary. Replaced once in 5yrs. Get brass units not plastic. Dan

I've been using them for years, on my trailer, and at the home. I on occaision have the problem of a fine leak with a few, but I usually toss them and get a new one. I find it easier on the hose fittings and 20 seconsd is to long for me to screw on a hose,

and then adjusting it so no kinks

Michael,

I agree with Dan. Use only the brass ones. I tried the plastic ones and they had a lot of leaks. Plus they tended to break when strain was put on them.

Hmmm, I've been buying the brass ones from the RV section at Walmart and have given up on them. They all leaked. Maybe the key is to buy brass ones anywhere BUT Walmart.

I think it was Robbie Simons who showed me the green plastic ones from Home Depot he's used with no leaks.

How's a guy to know which will not leak?

I got rid of the brass one I had and have been using 90 degree plastic ones made by Valerra, they also make the dump vavles for RV's and slide valves for pools. Had good luck with them.

We got some from Home Depot. The brass ones. Work great for 2 years.

I also use the brass ones found at CW, They seem pretty heavy duty and so far no leaks. I used the plastic, garden type in my stick home and eventually they all leaked. In the Monty, it's brass all the way. I think they were about 7-9 dollars apiece and they have a rubber section around the outside for tightening on and off. Maybe they weren't from CW but they are heavy duty.....

Phil and Cathy, those sound exactly like our quick connects. Are heavy duty too. We tried the plastic on stick house and they broke, leaked and etc. Replaced with the brass on the house and trailer. Have used the brass for two years on two different 5th wheels.

I have brass that I got at Target. They have a check valve in them so that it can be connected and disconnected under pressure. No problem for over 2 years.
