Pinbox Suprise.
I was going through the pretrip moves this morning, reached into the pinbox where the light cord is and pulled the cord out and YIKES a snake. Finished pulling the cord out and got a welding rod and made a hook and pulled it out. About a 4 FT chicken snake. Turns out a bird made a nest there and the snake got the bird. I got the snake.

If the cord was in the pin box, how did the snake get up in there?

After pulling out the birds nest this spring, I installed a screen in the pin box. Found a plastic mount that holds the plug and mounted that on the pin box to store the end of the cord so I don't have to put it in the pin box anymore.

I'm having trouble with bees,I had stuffed some plastic foam pieces into the opening to keep out the birds but the bees found a way in. now I think I might have honney in my front cap. I have sprayed and sprayed but they keep coming back. I know they have not been in there long because I live in this thing and they have only been around about a week .

Wow, Now I know why I live in the Northeast. Winter tends to clear those vermin but then again we still have, "them mices which tear things to pieces" (Quotation from Ozz).

OK. We live in Texas and for how it got up there, the only way I can see is that it climbed up the breakaway brake cable. I rolled the light cord up and put it in the pinbox but the brake cable is a foot off the groung and I thought nothing of it. I will rethink that stragety a bit. Also I do not think it come in the back side but come over the top underneath the cap. So keep this in mind when snake proofing. Fornatuly I am not real afraid of snakes, might of had a heart attack.

I've always been aware of snakes as a possibility. Pulled many a bird's nest out of the box as I store the brake and umbilical cable in the box. Snakes, if long enough, can raise themselves to near vertical and make a home in the box, easier when I use the kingpin tripod. Never put my hand in there but maybe from now on I'll put my leather gloves on earlier as I pull the cable from the box storage!!
