Suggestions in Tampa, FL area

I may be taking a trip to the Tampa area for work (MacDill AFB area but not ex military so can't stay on base) and was looking for a place in the Tampa/Clearwater/Dunedin area. Just need a place for a few nights. The trip will be added onto a pre-planned vacation up in Pensacola if I can swing it and work will allow it (might get part of it paid for via mileage which is a perk.

Hillsborough River State Park, Ft Desoto (Pinellas County Park); both of these have good camping if you can get in. Good time of year right now, as snowbirds are not down yet.

Thanks for the tips. Ft De Soto looked awesome. It looks like the trip is not going to happen now (with the trailer at least) but I am sure I'll be back in the area and hopefully can plan a little more.
