Turbocat Zoom
We just received a new Turbocat Zoom EX to use with our central vac. It is a very nice unit and does a good job,"according to the REAL boss" We found it on EBAY. There are vendors selling them for $40.00 plus shipping,a real savings after checking other places. Found some companies selling them for $125.00 plus shipping. This was an auction bid with no reserve and we were the only bidders.
We got ours through gr8wholesale on EBAY

Hey racerjoe, did you pay $24.99 shipping. That is what wholesalegr8 wants for shipping. I didn't find a gr8wholesale on EBAY.
Thanks

yes I did, but even with that it was still only half as much as other suppliers. At least that is what I found searching. I did think their shipping cost was high and I did note that in their review.

OK, would one or more of you mind telling me more about the Turbocat Zoom? When I look online I see pictures but not much in the way of specs.
How wide is it?
How noisy is it?
We recently bought the Shop Vac turbo nozzle at Walmart, the one Ozz has, after looking at beaucoup Walmarts for the past year and just finally finding one. It was marked $17.xx but rang up at $13.xx so maybe they're closeouts.
Anyhow, it does a pretty decent job but that puppy is loud! That thing spins so hard that it really does sound like a turbo on a jet. Sounds like it could take off at any time. Is the turbocat zoom that noisy?
Thanks.

It is approx. 13" wide and you really can't hear it run, there is very little noise, the vacuum itself drowns out any noise the unit makes.
If I am outside the camper, the only thing you hear is the vacuum itself.

I have a question too. When you stretch the hose all the way to the end of the Montana does the turbine thing slow down a lot or a little?

It really should not matter, it should stay approx the same speed all the time. If it is slowing down,it could possibly be a small leak in the hose,so when it is stretched,it is sucking air from the crack in the hose. Just a guess...

Ours slows down at the extreme end of the run. The hose is stretched probably 25 to 30 feet at that point. The vacuum is less. I don't think it's a leak, though, but just the dynamics of a long run of hose. Ours is not a turbocat zoom, though. I am still interested in that brand.

Hummm, we have had both, the Turbocat and the Shop Vac piece of junk. Dog hair will clog the brush from turning in about 15 seconds. The Turbocat was so great that I threw it as far as possible in the general direction of a dumpster. In all $145 dollars into the trash. We bought an elect powerhead and that works like something in the big stick house. We, for one, had horrible with the vacuum drive power heads.
