Mor-ryde shackle bolt wear
Well I was doing my 1st annual axle maintenance on the Monty and I noticed that the shackle bolts that connect the shackles to the mor-ryde are not bushed and are already showing wear. As I'm sure most of you know the spring shackle bolts go through a nylon bushing, which I will change to wet bushings when I do my 2 year maintenance.
I'm concerned by the wear already showing, maybe 8,000 miles.
Has anybody notice this and/or had a problem with these bolts.
I will be contacting Keystone and Mor-ryde about it.

I have about 8000 miles on my 3000rk and talking to Montana I am told that the shackles are a maintance item and even though my unit is only six months old the 12 months warrenty does not cover this item according to TM

While it would be nice if the Morryde didn't have the nylon bushings they are pretty much the industry standard

The vendor for the entire axle assemble including the shackles is dexter, Not keystone or Mor-Ryde. We just had ours replaced with the wet bolt kit at @ 15K miles and they were showing signs of wear. I think the nylon bushing are the weak point as mine were wearing..once they wear the bolts can move around and cause elongation of the hole.. I think if they put brass bushing in the OEM shackles they would be OK.....

Well nylon has been around for a number of years, but IMHO I sure would have a question of what grade of steel are the shackles made from and where did the steel come from. Just my thoughts.

I got a "wet bolt kit" from Trailair when I purchased the Equa-Flex suspension mod. The shackles were a little heavier than stock. Greasable bolts, bronze bushings, and shackles ... Part# EQ-WB2 at $46.00. You can buy the separate items at any Tractor Supply, Attwoods, or Orschlens farm and home stores ... don't know the individual prices. It's a pretty simple afternoon installation if you have a bottle jack, a floor jack, C-clamp, and a couple of wrenches. Hook your fiver to your truck for stability during the install. Although this link shows mostly the Equa-Flex install, it gives you an idea of what's involved in a shackle changeout. http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/...ad.php?t=23847

Mark, are you saying there is no bushing at all at those connecting points? It's raining so I'm not crawling under ours right now but am wondering, are these points of movement? If this is where I think they are then they are points with movement and should be bushed.
