Found a nest of Painted Buntings. They are nesting in a hanging basket. Looked them up on the internet and found that their densest population is in Texas, especially during nesting season. Well, after living in Texas nearly all my life, this is the first one I have ever seen.

It is amazing what you see when you stop to smell the roses.

It really is amazing what you can see if you look.
We had a bird's nest on top of our ceiling fan on the front porch. Strange place.

We have painted buntings - have to be one of the most beautiful birds around!! Hummers are also very abundant this year!

One of the pleasures of being retired is setting on the pourch in the A M drinking coffee and watching the feathered friends--humming birds, buntings, red birds etc.
