Help for Hearing Difficulties!

I finally got fed up with having to turn up the TV volume to hear it and which when I did bombarded Kat when sitting at the desk, so I added a $16 car amp and parallel wired the amp into the rear speakers of the surround system. We replaced our couch with our recliners so the rear speakers are conveniently located just above each of us.

That's a cool idea! Thanks Michael.

Good idea, Michael.

Not being as handy as you, our solution is a bit different. We went for a good quality two-speaker wireless speaker system. The transmitter is behind the tv and we each have a speaker next to us. Each speaker has a volume control. The tv volume stays at zero and we use the wireless speakers, each set to what is comfortable for us. Our is the Rocketfish brand, purchased at Best Buy.

Just another option for those less handy, like me.

Micheal, how do you switch the amp... or is it on all the time. I've been looking to do something like that since we went to a digital TV and I junked the old surround sound system. I don't want surround sound, but just power the speakers over my recliner.

The amp is on and connected to headphone out so that the TV controls the volume. We did something similar with the bedroom TV and car speakers in the ceiling.

Steve - I like the wireless speaker idea!
