My apologies

I erroneously reported that B&W was offering an adapter for their Companion Hitch to mate up with the Ford factory installed ball receiver. That information was given to me by a Ford truck salesman. I should have been suspicious.

Today I called B&W Tech Support on another matter. While I had him on the line, I asked about the adapter. He stated that there was no such adapter nor was there likely to be in the future. His excuse was related to patent infringement issues.

However, they do offer the under-the-bed mounted Roll Over Ball component for the 2011 Ford that will receive the B&W Companion Hitch. Those that want to move the Companion Hitch to a new Ford truck would need to opt out on the factory installed ball receiver and install the B&W.

I strongly expressed my disappointment concerning the inflexibility of B&W's decision. So sorry to have reported in error.

Well gee, Stiles. So you are a man of faith who thought people told the truth (even salesmen). Certainly nothing wrong with that but salesmen, that was pushing it.

But being a member of the MOC and knowing that things can be squirrelly you followed it up with research even if was by accident and found out the facts about B&W.

Since I live in a glass house, I certainly won't be throwing stones. Thanks for finding this out.

I guess the best questions from this would be, who is providing the OEM 5er hitch for Ford? I think it is Reese, but I'll be more unsure than Stiles and ask that no one believe this until confirmed!

No harm, no foul Stiles. Being a long time Ford owner and curious about anything Ford related I appreciate that you found out this much. Who can't forgive you for that!

I have read that Reese does provide the hitch to Ford.

I think that is true, but I wanted to just move my B&W Companion Hitch over to the new truck should I choose to get one. I will have to determine which is the desirable way to go if I change trucks.
