Ford ESP
Our 08 Ford has 33K miles on it and will be 3 years old on the 29th of August so our BB warranty is over..
we have 5 years 60K on the drive train and 5 years 100K on the diesel motor still in effect.
We purchased the Premium care ESP warranty which extends the Bumper to bumper for another 4 years and 64K miles. The power train for two years and 40K and the diesel motor for two years and 40K' We are averaging 11K miles a year so we will not run over the mileage limit.
It cost us 1940.00. Not a small amount of dollars. That is @ 485.00 for the extra 4 years of coverage.
have a chat with your service manager, any brand and check the
cost of Even a small failure like a alternator or water pump.
I am not handy or a do it yourself'er. I would normally buy a new truck when the warranty is up but figured the ESP was more cost effective besides this 08 Ford does a great job and the diesel motor is not broke in yet.

FYI: On my Cummins anything on the engine is covered under the 100K engine warranty. With 140K on my 2004.5 I guess I don't need to worry about the warranty now. gg

Same with the Ford 5 years 100K on the motor, turbo. I doubt if we will have the truck over 100K miles or 7 years.

Rich, let me see if I follow. ESP gives you an extra 4 years, or an additional 31K miles up to 64K total on the BB; it gives you two extra years and /or 40k, for a total of 7 years and/or 100k on the power train, and two years and or 40k more for a total of 7 years and 140k on the engine. Is that the result? My 08 has about 25k after just under 2 years, but we are just getting started. If those numbers are right, that's not a bad deal, and I may look into it.

Walt.. The premium care is 7 years 100K. So it adds another 64K of coverage not to exceed 7years
The Regular warranty is 5 years 60K on the power train and 5 years 100K on the motor and 3 years 36K Bumper to bumper.
I will now have bumper to bumper for a additional 4 years 64K miles. 100k - 36K = 64K .I will not do 64K miles in 4 years. I have Less tha 33K now. The ESP warranty starts on the trucks third birthday which in our case is August 29,2010 and runs through Aug 29th 2014. You are really paying the $$ for a additional 4 years. It is good old marketing that says 7 years 100K as it sound like you are getting more.
So 1940 divided by 4 = 485.00 per year.. I figured that was worth it

Rich,
Thanks for the clarification. Was that 1980 a flat rate price, or does it depend on the current mileage? If so, I might wait until next summer as my purchase date was October of 08. Give me some time to save a few more dimes!

The price varies depending on deductible and your negotiating skills. But as long as you purchase before 3 years or 36K miles, there is no adjustment based on mileage. The plan really doesn't kick in until after you exceed the standard warranty, so your current mileage is irrelevant (as long as it is under 36K).

Like Carl says. I did 200.00 deductible. The price is negotiable. You can buy the ESP plan from any Ford dealer anywhere and there are several that sell via the internet. I got the lowest quoted price from a internet Ford Dealer then went to my Local dealer and said..match it and I will write the check.....they did. Like Carl says no matter when you purchase it it does not kick in till 3 years or 36K miles. Many are sold on purchase of the truck. IF you intend to buy you might look for a good price now.. Theyn did increase somewhat over the last two years
