Installing wash machine
All your buddies playing golf? Your neighbors without bad backs out of town? Relatives not answering phone, because of knowledge I'm wanting to install the heavy Maytag washing machine?
No problem, just get a bunch of wood scraps together, tons of deck screws, Old Yeller and it's hydraulic tailgate, Sue's lawn mower and her trailer, and just like the Egyptians, well, a modern version, in she goes......I try not to lift Nuttin!

Glenn,
Darn caller I.D., gets me every time!
Few of us make it to retirement with a good back, I have always used sign trucks, even changing compressors out on rooftop units, many service guys rope them up, I always knew if my back went out, I would be out of business.

Great job and I also agree on looking after the back. I rig everything at work. Let the silly young bucks install a 300 pound pump using armstrong . I set up my slings and my ton and a half come along and save my back. I hurt my back 20 years ago, I got into a Yoga routine that I still do 4 or 5 times a week and have no more issues with my back but I treat it with respect. Most millwrights my age have a bad back. I hope I can retire with a good back but who knows......good health is a fragile thing.

Steve and I carried that darn splendide to the back of our Monty and had to lift it to put it up in the closet, as it is about 2 feet of the floor! We bout killed ourselves doing it, scraped my shin red, purple, black and blue for about 2 weeks. My advice, HAVE IT INSTALLED! That was a 172lb beast I don't want to tackle again.

Don, as soon as I read that post, a picture of you practicing Yoga in a thong instantly over-rode everything else in my brain. Carol's post echoed exactly what I was going to post... We're probably not the only ones...
Ozz, you may have mentioned this in another topic/thread, but why this particular Maytag? Knowing you, you would not have just run out and bought the first washer you saw for your Monty... Just curious on your selection thinking...

One of the big pluses of the 3400 is that W/D closet is right by the front door. When we did ours, our neighbors were so curious about what we were doing (none had W/D) that we had 2 big strong guys come and help. Good thinking Ozz and Sue looks very happy, at least I hope that is a smile of happiness and not my foot is got and I can't get it out! LOL
Happy trails....................................

That neighbor thing only works once. They know better now.
She is very happy, her Kenmore washer in the house has the same panel details and controls as the Maytag, pretty lights and beeps when it does things, it even has a hand wash cycle she was excited about-????
I think I will move the outlet, I don't like where it is, I'll move it up high, I think.
Do any of you have yours secured so it doesn't move when spinning, or travelling down the road?
I will attach a big aluminum ell to the floor and the base of the washer.
I bought a kit to attach the dryer to the washer top.

Having your own laundrey facilites with you is fantastic. Your two piece unit will do a better job than our little Splendide but we are so happy to be able to do our laundrey in the Montana.
Ours came installed in our Montana so I am not sure but I think it just sits there. It is 170 pounds and it is enclosed in the corner of the bedroom closet so it does not have much room to go any where.
Here is something that happened to us that makes us not miss CG laudromats. We were up in Banff National Park a few years back doing our laundrey in the CG . Our Parks have many European tourists that fly over here, rent motorhomes and tour around. There was a German lady in the laundromat ( my wife is of German descent so in no way is this story prejudiced towards this fine race of people.......... I haven't been married to her for 35 years by being that stupid )
Anyway,we had several of our own plastic laundrey baskets with us and the laundromats do not supply them in most CGs. This big German lady walks over and grabs one of ours. My wife tried to explain that they were our own personal baskets. The lady thought Donna was being greedy and hogging the only 4 baskets in the place and in her broken english, she voiced her opinion of us.
She did not realize she was dealing with someone every bit as stubborn as her. A little bit of a tug-o-war went on, Donna won, and was also able to make the person realize we owned the baskets and we needed all of them. This woman was not pleasant and her parting remark was, " At home I own my own washing machine." We told her we also owned our own washing machine at home and now we even own our own washing machine on the road. Take care.

Don, You guys could have sold seats for that one! It also sounds like she was not a gracious loser of the situation.
You know times like that, are what great memories are made of, when something happens on a trip we are on, I look at Sue and tell her, this is one we will be telling our friends!
Take care, Ozz
