Bedroom Slide Problem/faulty snap ring install

The snap ring on the hydraulic cylynder popped off as we were trying to bring in the slides and all that transmission fluid leaked all over underneath our bed. We were ready to leave after a 9 day stay in Pennsylvania and what a catastrophy. We were so thankful the owner of the campground crawled under there and put the snap ring back on and after putting new fluid in, we were able to bring in the slides. We were holding our breath almost, what a mess, thanks to another "Keystone error". Somebody must have been in a hurry when they put the snap ring on. The snap ring was NOT broke, it just popped off and made that Big Mess. We bought a shop vac and tried to clean up. This should have never happened, if the job would have been done right to begin with.

Sorry to hear of your problem. That really sucks. How did you access the snap ring?Under the bed or did you have to remove the under belly on the bed room slide?just in case it happens to me!!!

The cylinder can be accessed from inside your unit under the bed. Lift the bed and remove the large sheet of plywood underneath, at least that is how ours is.

The guy at the RV park, was an experienced truck driver (30 years), he had this long hook and reached for the snap ring, and just screwed it back on. We had to push the end back in before putting the snap ring on. Kind of a messy job, and there is not much room under that bed. We did not have to open the under belly. Once he got the snap ring back on, and we added more transmission fluid, we tried one slide at a time and they came in Ok. No more problems since doing all that.
