SCARE LIGHT REPLACEMENT

After having the rig for 6-9 months I noticed the scare lights started to rust both around the mounting screws and the screws for the bezel. So I ordered some new stainless steel base lights from etrailer.com for about $11 each plus shipping. After having them sit in the garage at home for a while, 6 months or so, I finally got around to installing them on Thursday. I also made sure to use stainless screws to mount them. It was an easy install and although they are not white, they look like they belong and should hold up to the weather.

Those do look very nice. Now I have to go look at mine. Have never noticed if they are rusting or not.

Wow.... they don't have to match, they look great as they are! One thing about stainless steel or chrome, they can accent something and look nice as long as it's not overdone. This wouldn't seem overdone to me. I hope you sealed the screws. Now if they were orange or green.....

Mine doesn't show rust (yet?) but the rig doesn't see much rain and I don't need another thing to replace.

Jack-- Isn't your rig still under warranty? I would have gone to my dealer or contacted Keystone before getting replacements that cost me! That's just me however!

Thanks jackel1959. We ordered two last night. Ours were looking like yours, must be the great rainy weather of western Washington that causes that problem for us both. Hope the new one hold up better to all the damp weather.

Rondo,
Although the rig is a 2010 we took possession in April of 09 so it is out of warranty.

Fire5er,
Just as an FYI I did not use the gasket that came with the lights when I installed them. I put a good bead of silicone around the base and them attached them to the rig, I also put silicone on the screws before I put them in. Take care to make sure you position them correctly because there are weep holes on the bezel which need to be at the bottom. You can always remove the bezel and reposition it to the right orientation if needed.

R,
Jack

Thanks!
I'll remember to pursue these the next time the Bulb burns out.
Mine look a lot worse/more rust. I've had to replace one bulb so far and reused the fixture, but had to make a new gasket of of foam as the old one disintegrated, so I like the caulk idea too!

I replaced ours with the same a couple years ago. The others were rusty, and lens were yellowed. Amazing how bright the new ones are.
