2011 Chevrolet Silverado HD

For those GM types here is a First Drive report on the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado HD. There is also a First Drive report on the 2011 Ford HD in the AutoGuide.

Thanks for the post - Sounds like they did a good job on the 2011 GM.

Wow! What specs, with a 21,700lb towing capacity, I'll bet the RV manufacturers are happy. I wonder what the "weight Police" will have to talk about now........ Just joking!!!!! I know the Ford has similar specs. I guess it boils down to personal choice, but with that much towing capacity and the listed payloads, that opens the door for the larger and heavier RVs... A standard exhaust brake on the Duramax must be nice also. Makes my '08 look like "trade-in fodder". If only I could convince the DW (not a chance, thank God).....

all of them boosted the tow ratings on the 1 ton trucks but I don't think I would want to pull that much with a 1 ton truck. Don't see anything about bigger brakes or beefed up frame, etc.
saw a 2011 Ford 250 that listed a gross combined vehicle weight of 24,400lbs.. I nearly choked..

Kind of sounds like the PO has come through again for a new TV for Dennis!!! I'm looking but Mary just got her a new vehicle so it will be a while till Rondo gets to get one! Maybe I'll go back on the rolls and make the Big Bucks again!! Ya, When pigs fly and the Monte takes on wings!! They do look good and I've talked to the dealers and they expect a lot this year!!

Dennis why don't you hook onto your Monte and head out here to Nebraska for the Central Plains Regional Rally in July? We'd really like to have you two here and I can show you some REAL Nebraska hospitality!

Digging deeper Rich on the Chevy, does reveal a new frame and heavier brakes. The Ford combined is about 3K more than Chevy.

Rich, If you go to the website, they list all kinds of suspension upgrades, including additional springs and a completed box frame just for starters. Phil

No new vehicle for us Rondo. We talked early on about the rally you are WM of and just can't fit it in this year. We'd truly love to get out there someday soon. It looks like it will be a fun rally.

We'll expect you and Judy next year, Dennis! Take care and give that lovely wife of yours a hug for me! I'll give one to Mary from you! We hope we will do a good job this year to intro MOC members to Nebraska and what we have here! We'll see you at the Fall Rally! Can't make the GL or Mid Atlantic. Heading for Annaheim for a convention then up to Washington State to see my brother-in-law and his wife. Not taking the Monte because we don't want to have to drive in daily for the convention from the RV parks. See you in September!!
