Luray Caverns, VA....accessible

We have a wonderful time visiting Luray Caverns near New Market and Luray, VA with our grandson who uses a wheelchair. We were very surprised and delighted to find out that the caverns are wheelchair and scooter sccessible. It is one of the few caves that are accessible and a breathtaking place to visit.

You are almost in my mother's birth place. Gosh durn it I love the Shenandoah Valley. Hooray for the caverns for making this possible for you to share.

Amen to that, Carol. We drove down through the mountains and are now south of Bristol, TN, very close to the Bristol Speedway, at a very nice Passport America Park. Lakeview RV. It was a beautiful drive today, once the fog lifted off the mountains. We didn't get started until after 11:00 a.m. because of the weather....and laundry! The Smokies were smokin'!

If you are headed West in I-40, Crossville, TN is about 190 miles from Bristol. There is a camp ground there called Deer Run RV Resort We stayed there on our trip East last year and enjoyed the peace and serenity so much we stayed there on the return trip also. It is still listed as a Passport America park. I believe it was site #331 that we stayed in - Ask if site 331 is open if you decide to go that way.

Be prepared to do nothing but enjoy the peace. They do have a swimming pool and there is fishing on the lake.

Thanks for the suggestion, Waynem. We have had a reservation for Bean Pot Campground which seems to be east of Crossville for a few weeks. It was 'small campground of the year' a couple years ago. It's very comfortable with a nice pool, nothing fancy, but we have very nice neighbors and there are no train or traffic sounds so I think we'll be quite comfortable for our week long stay. We paid for six nights and got the seventh free. No Montanas here and very few big rigs.
