Dodge ram 2500 towing 310RE
Have short bed truck 6 feet 4 inches. Do I need pull rite slider hitch. Is there a hitch I can use to avoid hitting cab?

Lot's of slider hitches out there. I use a Pullrite so I don't have to get out, find out the hitch is rusted in place and, well you get the idea.

I have the 310RE and a 6-1/2 ft bed. i have a slider hitch, but never used the slide feature. It gets close, but haven't hit it yet, but then again, I am very careful.

I have heard many on this forum state that they don't need a slider. I have seen a few damaged trucks and trailers. Most of them were older trailers like mine, a 2005 2955RL. My front cap is more squared off than most of the newer trailers. A slider is a must for my truck and trailer, so I bought the Superglide.

I think the manufacturers wised up and rounded the cap corners of their 5th wheels. I'm in a campground and have helped move rigs from sites to our storage area and only on the older rigs have I ever used my slider. Good decision on your part.

Two years ago I was in a campground in Albuquerque and heard a crunch and glass hitting metal. Came out and the guy next to us had crunched his cab on a new Ford with the corner of a brand new Mobile Suites so you can do it with a new one you just have to work harder. Didn't see how he did it and didn't want to ask mostly because he was in a pull thru site and I then would have had to ask "why didn't you just" and that would have just been mean.

We have the older model 5'er with the squared front cap. Have always had a manual slider and always used it when entering my driveway at home and when entering most RV parks. Not a big deal to get out and move the slider. Gives me peace of mind and makes maneuvering the 5'er much easier. It's just a mind set thing to get in the habit of using it, that offsets the cost of the automatic slider.

If you don't want to get out and want piece of mine get the pullrite super glide. I have it in my Chevrolet short box and it is worth the money.

I have a 2017 Ram 2500 4x4 and a 305RL with a B&W Companion. I haven't had slide it but have the capability to manually side is good. Where I almost used it was going over a RR track. Got to under one inch ...

I have the Pullrite Superglide in my short bed Ford and would not be without it! This last weekend I had it almost 90 degrees and still did not hit anything.

Pullrite is what I have in my Ram 2500. Wish I had a sidewinder though.
Maybe next time.
