Removing stickers from interior

We have a new Montana and I would like to remove the stickers that they have put on the interior. I started to remove one and it began to remove the finish on the woodwork. Any suggestions?

Only the face frames of the cabinets are real wood. The thin panels used on the sides of cabinets and bottoms of overhead cabinets are 1/8" plywood type product that is pretty much plain white and the wood-like appearance is done with stain. I doubt that keystone has changed product from its cabinet supplier since my unit was made and real plywood with actual grain and a clear coat product over any stain. If you use anything but a plastic razor blade, test in an area you don't mind being stripped of stain.

All of ours removed very easily, except the big one on the microwave door. Being its glass,I used a razor blade scraper on that one.

IF it removes some of the finish, it shouldn't be too hard to match the stain up on the wood as mentioned in the above post. Just keep wiping the stain off with a rag until it gets to the color you want it.

Try a heat gun (carefully) to warm up the sticker before you try to peal it. That will usually soften the glue enough to allow you to peal the sticker off with less chance of harm to the wood behind it. Also works for removing stickers on the exterior.

I agree with the last post. Use a heat gun or hair dryer.

Careful use of a heat gun has also worked well for us, both inside and out. Hate those stickers.

I might add you can get a cheap heat gun that is ok for occasional use at Harbor Freight. I have one that has worked very well for me over the last 5 years or so.

It also comes in handy for heat shrink and I have even used it to bend PVC pipe! Lot of potential projects with that last use.....

Might also try your hair dryer on high. Just need to get really warm, not super hot.

Shhhhhhh my wife might hear. How do you think I got half my tools LOL. She says I need a new shelf, I say no problem but I need a special new tool to do it!

Heat guns usually have a low setting too but your right blow dryer will usually do it for new interior stickers. Not so much for old outside stickers

Can't emphasize enough about using care with a heat gun. These are not heavy duty hair dryers, these create serious heat. They are capable of setting wood on fire. They can discolor the finish quickly if you're not careful. If you have never used one than you should practice on some scrap material to get a feel for it.

Your right about that. Be careful with them including after you complete the job. Takes a while for them to cool down. But there are times when a hair dryer just isn’t enough

If you go out and get a heat gun the DW won't have to ask where's her hairdryer.

I have a few stickers I need to remove. Too bad I already have one.

DW does anything to keep me out of HF

Thanks for the suggestions. Before asking about removing stickers from interior surfaces on this forum, I had asked Keystone. Below is the response I just received.

Good morning Mr. Landry,

Thank you for supplying the picture with your question about removing stickers. This sticker is for the roof top solar prep on the unit. You will cut on the dotted line the wires to install your controller are located behind there. We apologize; however, this sticker is not meant to be removed. Thank you and have a great day.

Thank you,

My response to that is apparently NONE of the stickers are intended to be removed. I pulled the big shield sticker off of the window on the door yesterday and still have heavy glue on it!!! I'm headed to town to get some goof off!

Its MY unit and I will darn well remove ANY sticker I so chose too!!! Next thing you know they will be sending the mattress sticker police out to inspect our units for the proper stickers!!!!!

It warms my heart that Keystone is so concerned about stickers. Perhaps they can parlay some of that concern to the lack of quality control that seems to br rampant in the industry.

It is obvious from the reply from Keystone that they have no idea on how a properly installed solar system should work. You should be putting the remote from the controller in that location. The controller is located as close as possible to your batteries.

Now if they only had the same attitude towards trim and screws as they do stickers....
