Air Compressor for G Rated Tire

Wondering what everyone is using for G rated Tires bc my Craftsman 135psi 3 Gallon tank won’t put air into my new Montana Tires? What small models can fill tires up to 110 PSI?

Porter Cable 5 gal pancake compressor with a cut out pressure of 150 psi and cut in pressure of 120 psi works for me.

A lot of folks have bought the 110 volt 150 PSI Porter Cable. I bought one and returned it for a similar Rigid model which was $30 more but much quieter. Both are sold by Lowes and Home Depot. There are also some decent 12 volt options but at a higher cost.

Pretty much any compressor rated over 110psi will work. It’s a matter of how well. Most DC powered ones will take a while to get to 110psi as they heat up quickly and you will have to have a cool down cycle of 10 - 15 minutes before operating again. AC powered ones are better but you need an AC source. No problem if you are in a campground or at home but a problem if your RV is in storage. (portable generator)
Personally, I have an AC powered Porter Cable from Summit Racing. It “charges” to 150psi and I can regulate the output pressure. I usually set the output to 130 - 135psi and that fills the tires in a few seconds.
In the campground, I have it strapped to the back wall of the front storage compartment of the RV. Just plug into the socket on the same wall, pull out my 50 ft hose, air up truck and RV tires.

That’s the same one I have. I put a quick connect fitting on the compressor and just “snap” my hose on when I need it. Picked up 50 ft hose and fittings from Harbor Freight for less than $25.

Yeah I am looking at that Rigid 6 Gallon 150 PSI Compressor and it is ok that it only works on AC power. I only use it to fill tires before I go on the road from gone and the CG so usually have AC.

I bought the Dewalt battery operated 20v 2.5 gal 135 psi and it won’t put any air in the tires but the Craftsman 135 PSI 3 Gallon does but can’t get passed 100psi so I am thinking that Rigid with 6 gal and 150 PSI will do the job.

Thanks all we will find out tomorrow if it works, I only need it for this RV tires and to blow lines out to winterize but for the most part it will sit in the RV basement so hoping that works tomorrow

Porter Cable for us. Has done the job for 8 years of full timing and two rigs.

I had 125' of hose from former hobbies. Need only what came with it at CGs but 50' at home. The outlet in the basement provides power so I rarely remove the compressor. Not that heavy and does a good job winterizing too.

The Viair 400 RV runs on 12volts so it was there when I needed it on the side of the road. Pricey but those 120v units may not have power when you need air...

Porter Cable is a economical choice, but you'll be pretty disappointed in it trying to blow out your water lines as it's only 2 scfm with no tank. It may work, but it'll be painfully slow. I use one that's about 11 scfm and it takes a bit of time to blow out the lines at that. Like said ... you'll need a "pretty long" extension cord out on the road where one is essential.

You are right Butchy, we use the Viair 400 RV too and I used it along the hiways of, MN, WI, MT & SD, when there was no AC power around. It's 12vdc and made specifically for all RV's.

This is the Porter Cable compressor that a lot of people have. A 6 gallon tank and it blows out the water lines without any problems. I have an Onan built in generator, so power is no problem when on the road.

No problem blowing out lines when set at 40 psi. Takes just a few minutes. Only a 1 1/2 gallon tank so don't know why you say no tank. No need for an extension on the road, just start the genny. Getting 110 psi from a 12 volt compressor~~ may as well camp for the night.

I have the Bostitch 6 gal - 150 PSI unit. Came wit dual quick connects. Works well to pump up 16inch tires to over 100 PSI. 110 vac. Not as fast as my 3 gal Harbor Freight compressor but does 150 PSI.

Menards or Home Depot for under $100 if you catch a sale

That the nice portable that so many are raving about. Right about being pricey but watch for it on sale. I've noticed that AMZN drops their price whenever it goes on sale somewhere else.

I have a Viair 400RV, works great, easily does 110PSI for the Sailuns/Michelin tires. Since we moved to a coach, we no longer need it, I’d sell it. PM me if you’re interested.
