Rookie (sort of)

Hello everyone!

We just got our first 5th Wheel, 2010 Montana 3400RL and we're pretty excited to get it out in a couple weeks and learn all there is to learn. This is a big step up for us; we have been dragging a Jayco 27BH TT behind us for the last ten years. (After a 4000 mile road trip last summer she looked at me and said "Before spring, you're getting a nicer truck and a nicer trailer.") Our grand daughter isn't terribly pleased with it as: "Grampa, it has no top bunk! Where am I going to sleep?" (She's 5)

And the rest, they say, is history.

A little about ourselves:
In 2014, I retired after 35 very rewarding years in the Navy. My last 7 years serving as Chief Engineer in USS HARRY S TRUMAN CVN75 and USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT CVN71.
Terri has a wonderful smile and sense of humour. And being married to me for 33 years, let's just say she has a patience streak a mile wide. All that and a fabulous cook.

So we're looking forward to getting out, seeing the country in a little more detail and meeting some new friends.

I'll do my best to not embarrass myself with stupid questions, but at the same time, allow me to apologize ahead of time for when I do.

All our best,
Bill and Terri

Welcome to the MOC family and thanks for your service!! Always remember, the only stupid questions are those that are not asked. In fact the only way some of us learned was to ask our own questions at one time or another. We likewise started with a bunk model travel trailer (seems like eons ago) and our first Montana was a 3400. We traveled then with two daughters and never had a problem with sleeping arrangements. Looking back, they loved the living room sofa bed since they could watch tv until all hours of the night with Mom and Dad always yelling "turn it down!!".

You have to use an off-site photo album (I use photobucket.com). There is a tutorial on the home page (see the menu at the top of any page and the left most item is Home). Basically, you store your photos off of the forum and reference them to the forum with an IMG code. They can be inserted with the icon to the right of the Format: line at the top of your posts. The 11th icon from the left is the insert photo icon. It may seem tedious, but once you get the hang of it, it is simple, and it helps the forum storage by not keeping photos on the forum server. Hope this is simply explained enough and helps.

Congrats and welcome to the MOC family! We had a 3400 floor plan a while back and found it to be a very functional plan.

We have all been rookies to this great forum in the past and believe me any question is a good question to ask. We look forward to all your future posts.

Welcome to the forum and enjoy your rig. Thanks for your service. The carriers have come along way since I got out. The Enterprise was the only one then. Had a chance to do some work on it (fine tuning the generators). Nuke is soooo great. Beats the 1500# systems like a drum.

Welcome to a great Forum from sunny Eastern Washington. I am sure you will enjoy both your Montana and a newer TV. Fifthwheel verse TT in towing should also make you smile. Happy camping a safe driving wishes for you.

From central Arkansas, welcome to the forum and MOC family, and thank you Bill, for your service. We've all been somewhat of a newbie ourselves. The nice thing about this forum is that I've not seen anyone respond in a disrespectful manner. You pick up lots of good tidbits here without even asking questions. Enjoy!

Welcome to the forum and thank you for your service. Spend some time looking at the rally section. Rallies are the single best method to get questions answered on your unit and to meet some great people. Enjoy your rig.

Welcome to the forum. The 3400RL may be the most popular floorplan Montana ever built. Seems a lot of members here have or had one at some point. There will be plenty of information available here with regards to your particular model. Enjoy the MOC and thank you for your service to this great country.
