Hi Phil,
We are leaving Yuma tommorow - heading east - Organ Pipe National Monument, then Saquaro National Park - Tucson - Sierra Vista - maybe we will see you along the way.
When are you leaving Vegas?
Warm regards,
Jo-Anna

Phil,
I'd take 95 south from the Vegas area. Hook up with the I-40 and go east to Needles. At Needles take either California 95 south or AZ 95 south thru Lake Havasu City and on into Parker. At Parker hit 72 east bound. Take it all the way to the 1-10. You can always take the Vicksburg cutoff down to 10. Take the 10 all the way to Buckeye, AZ. At that point take hwy 85 south to Gila Bend and I-8. Then take 8 into Tucson.
By taking this route you avoid any major traffic situations. It also keeps you from having to travel thru the terrible traffic in Phoenix. The roads are good the entire route.

Sue and I took our Monte over the dam, there was a Homeland check before it. We had a nice officer peek into the holds, and glance down the interior-no slide out necessary. Took about 4 minutes.
I called a Sheriff's office, a 50 miles or so before the dam, the dispatcher was super nice, said not to worry and enjoy the sights at the dam.

JoAnna, Tentatively leaving Vegas on 17 Feb, planning on overnighting somewhere, then checking into Voyager park on 18 Feb. Then will be there until 11 April.
Illapah and OZZ, the dam is crossable, with a security check, but very narrow and windy roads plus they are working on a bypass for trucks and others that don't want to cross the dam. I would just as soon stay away from that with the Montana.
Jack and Dennis, thanks for the routing info, I will check them both out!!!!

Phil,
We have travelled the route Dennis described many times and feel it's the best. All the roads are decent and no traffic to worry about

Crossing Hoover Dam was a choice I won't regret. Saved me about an hours driving time and the trip was a piece of cake. Security guy did go in and look around (slides closed). This is "ONE" spectacular site. Spent the night in Wickenburg, a real Arizona cowboy town in a park called "Horspitality RV Park". This is truly a cowboy park with stables and corrals galore. Not high on other amenities and we had a lane site, a pull in though. OK for the night......
