My wife came in the other day and said, "I got lost going to XXX we need to get one of those GPS things." I said, "You think so...well Christmas is coming." I ordered the Garmin 650 the next day and am currently tracking it on UPS...should be in tomorrow. She doesn't know. I hope she enjoys her gift...I know I will. Well, I have to check it out to make sure it works okay and the maps are current...the sacrifices I make for my wife...if she only knew.

I think it's really neat how we get these sort of things for the "DW" for Christmas. "Really, Hon, I knew this would make your camping experience much easier"!!!!!

I have started to pray that the power will go out long enough for her to make a comment that it is too bad we don't have a generator. I am determined to take care of all her needs.

Got mine in June. Called Garmin in July to complain that I had old maps from 2005 in it. They agreed to mail me a 2008 upgrade CD for free. Called them back today and they had lost it somewhere in the loop. So will send a new one today. Garmin services their customers well. It is one of those "how did I ever get along without it" gizmos.

Good Luck with your Nuvi 680. We use the 660 and it's really helpful and full of information beyond route directions. It even knows to "turn the lights down" when it turns to dusk from daylight.

Noted today on the Costco website that they are sold out of 660 and 680 Nuvi's due to high demand.

We can't even imagine traveling anywhere without the GPS.

Have you had that sinking feeling when you left the house without your cell phone?....yep, same feeling without the GPS.

I have one in all of our vehicles. Two are built in and the other two are portable. I love them, haven't had to stop at a gas station in years now to ask where I was going.

DHenry,

I bet you were one of those like me who didn't ask for directions anyway.....

GPS cheaply cured one of my inadequacies.

WQe had a Garmin 2650 for several years. it finally died because I left it on the dash too often (AZ sun) It decided to die just as we were leaving this past summer. I decided I could get along without and recalled all of my old map reading and dead reckoning skills. It is a good ego builder to know you can still do it the old fashioned way. But, please don't take away my spell checker.

I had a 2620 for several years. Quit working a few weeks ago. Called Garmin and they said they'd fix it under warranty! Sent it back and got a brand new one w/in 10 days!!! They support their customers. I'm a happy Garmin GPS addict.

I ordered the Nuvi 650 yesterday from Costco's. Told my sis about it and she ordered the 650 Nuvi too for her husbands Christmas present. Looking forward to using the GPS. I used the DeLorme with my computer for several years, but was always concerned when we hit some of those bumps in the road, that my hard drive would crash. Also when the sun was bright it was hard to see the screen. Will let you know how we like it. Sounds like you are happy with the Nuvi 680.

Santa is bringing me a new Nuvi 680. This will be my fourth Garmin. The first one, a lodge owner in Canada begged me to sell to him - one of the original 8 channel units. For what he gave me, I bought a Garmin GPS II. It worked great but didn't have maps. Next was a Garmin GPS 60C, which I use all of the time. But the 680 has a lot of features that made upgrading a real desire - fuel prices, traffic rerouting, movie times, bluetooth phone capability and a much larger screen. I am anxiously awaiting getting my hands on it. I am watching POI-Factory.com to see when the most up to date Dunkin Donut file is available. I am addicted to their coffee.
