Best air compressor for filling truck and trailer tires
All,
What is a good air compressor to buy for filling truck tires (65PSI) and Montana Sailun tires (110PSI). It would seem to need a very long cord or be battery powered cordless. The one in my emergency kit won't even reach my back tires on a minivan. Any consensus as to a good one.

I bought Porter cable pancake compressor, 150 psi max and it does a great job and is light to carry. Home Depot.

Keep a Porter Cable in the RV (110 v)
Keep a Slime in the truck (12 v)

Ditto the Porter Cable unit, and NO, don't think the 110 outlet in the TV would power it, the ones in my Chevy are only good for 150 watts and I'm sure the compressor draws much more than that, but we have the 5500 Onan on-board.

A quick search and I found this one $36 less than on Amazon when I was buying.

To the OP: I feel your pain. I have tried several and don't want to spend any more money experimenting. Had a Slime, took it back; junk. The problem I have is trying to fill all 4 tires with 10 additional PSI with a 12 volt compressor is a 45 minute process. I don't mind spending a little money (once), just don't know what to buy. Yes, there are a lot of them on Amazon, but which ones are the better ones? Anyone have experience with Viair?

Won't work. Too much current draw.

I have had my 12v Slime for at least 5 or 6 years. I carry it in the truck for emergencies. I know it's slow and there is a cool down cycle but, it's just for emergencies. Anywhere I have 110v, I use the Porter Cable. I leave it in the basement and use the 110v outlet in the basement. Have a 50ft hose and can reach the truck and RV with no problem.

I keep the P-C 150 PSI in the 5er and a 2000 watt Champion genny. Those are for emergency and who knows where I may have to stop.

No. I installed and hardwired a 2000w inverter on our truck. Runs my compressor and other tools off the battery just fine.

Yup a 12 volt compressor isn't worth a crap (if I can say that )
You need a 110 volt one like the Porter Cable. You could also go to a tire shop and they will add air or check the tires for free. Most have room for RV's. Just throw the guy a 5er for his troubles.

The PC pancake is on sale at Lowes from time to time at $100. I have two; one in the fiver and one in my shop. An extension cord (assuming you have 110 volt power) and a long air hose and you can reach anywhere you need to.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I think I will get the Porter Cable pancake compressor and add a 50 foot air hose. Home depot has the 6 gallon model for $99. I will get a chuck set too. That should take care of my air needs on the rig.

You can usually buy a kit with a chuck, a blow gun, and some quick disconnects for not much money. Well worth the cost. The compressor may come with some accessories. Harbor Freight is really good for the accessories. Pay a little more for a rubber hose instead of a polypropylene one, you'll be glad you did. If you want small and light weight you can use the coiled plastic ones, but they fight back!

That 110 outlet will not provide enough juice to run an air compressor.
