cooper tires

Am getting ready to put new tires on the monti. Has anyone put cooper tires on their monti and what was your opinion of them. LonnieB is checking on them for me as he has not used Cooper SRM II tires.
Thanks for any info.
Have a great day!
Dick

When I was in Arco Idaho a few years back I had two blowouts and replaced all four with new tires at a Cooper tire store.(only tire store for fifty miles).
The only Cooper tires they had that would fit were already 5 years old so I bought Eldorado tires instead and these are made by Cooper. They lack one month of being a year old so I had them put on and have been very satisfied with them. They are now 4 or 5 years old and still look like new with about 15,000 miles on them.
I will be replacing them next year and I will replace them with Cooper or something made by them.

I put Cooper LT235/85R16s on our previous rig we just traded recently. They were the SRMIIs. They held up well for the first maybe 8K-10K miles. After that they wore a lot on the inside and outside edges of each tire. They were always inflated at 80Lbs. They did bulge a lot on the side walls. I know the Bridgestone Duravis R500s on another friends unit did not bulge like the Coopers.
I am getting ready to put GY G614s on the new rig to replace the Chinese Marathons.
Our unit was a 2955RL.

I just got off the phone with my Cooper distributor. His take on the SRM II is that it is an "OK" tire. He has sold very few of them so he couldn't really give an accurate assesment. He said it is supposed to be a premium commercial tire and is pretty sure it is made in the USA, but doesn't know for sure. The going rate around here would be about $157.00 each mounted and balanced.

Our 2004 came with "Dominators" on it. When the axles were bent and wore them out we replaced them with the same thing and have not had a problem with them. They were made by Cooper but are discontinued now. Don't know about the replacement for that tire but will give them a try when it's time to replace.

Thank you Lonnie for the feedback. I have decided to go with the Cooper discoverer H/T tires.
Have a great day!

Dick I put a set of cooper on mine for a short time. Had to buy them on the way home from fla in 08. I took them off and put on the back of my truck. It may sound funny but the rolling resistence on them was very notisable on the rv very hard to pull. not as bad on the truck. I went with falkens from japan very good tire I have ran for yrs on my truck. JMHO

My only experience with Cooper Discoverers were the two I put on the back of my truck 235x16. They worked ok but the tread simply disappeared. I traded the truck but I doubt that they would have made more than 25k miles. They may do better on a trailer but they were not impressive on the back of my truck.

I had Cooper tires on my old ford, and I got good service out of all 6 of them.
