My Status --- Mary Kay

Thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers. We are always reminded that the MOC is more like a family than just another forum.

I arrived home last night from San Jose thanks to my brother and brother in law. Just to set the record straight I had two mini strokes called TIAs. Nothing in any of the tests showed blockage or bleeding. They did discover I had one artery in the back of my neck smaller than normal. They believe this has been with me since birth. The probable cause is unregulated blood pressure and stress.

I was lucky that my daughter immediately called 911 when I started talking with slurred speech. They arrived immediately and took me to ER. After an MRI of the brain they decided to send me home since it was negative. While getting dressed I had another mini stroke. They immediately admited me for overnight observation.

As a "Caretaker" this has been a real wake up to me. Not only taking of my DH but as he sometimes says....... Trying to take care of the whole world! I don't want to try to explain all my caretaking activities in the days leading up to the mini strokes! Needless to say I was trying to do too much!

Thank you all so much for your posts of concern.

Mary Kay

Glad you made it home and all you had were "warnings". Now it's time to heed them.

Glad you are home, yes, us caretaker types MUST learn to care for # 1 FIRST, otherwise, we simply cannot care for the others we love.

So glad to hear that you are home now. Be sure and follow up with a doctor in you area. Caretakers are not indestructible.

Glad you are home and take care of yourself. Set your throttle to max of 3/4 instead of darn the torpedoes, full speed ahead.
Take care.

It is time to sit back, enjoy the scenery, and enjoy life. There are other caretakers in the world that will take up your call of duty. Enjoy the family. Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Live.

My mother is 86 and several years ago had several TIA's. She is fine today. She has slowed down, but more to age than the TIA's.

We're so thankful that you have been warned Mary Kay.. Many people have TIA's and ignore them, never even knowing what hit them until the big one arrives. Now that you know, please heed the Doctors and get that BP in order. We all want you around for many more years.

Hugs,
Helen and Bill

Mary Kay, sounds like it is time to adjust the cruise control to a little slower speed. Glad things are looking better.

It is so good to hear you are home. Stress can do horrible things to us. It was a big issue in my heart attack. So now you have a "warning" and I hope you will kick back and enjoy life!
Happy trails................................

Mary Kay - Glad to hear you are home. Can only echo what others have said - slow down and take care of yourself and Dennis first. You and Dennnis continue to be in our prayers.
