In my case, that means getting the truck muddy in fields with a tractor or hunting so I want the easy to clean vinyl floors

On the other hand when we purchase our long trip F150 soon yeah it will be top end trim package because it’s purpose is to be as comfortable as possible on long trips
We got the longhorn by choice. To each his own. But if some dork wants to call a Ram Cheap, he deserves it back. He bought cheap and got cheap. It does what he wants to do he has no right to gripe cheap. We got longhorn and we got what we wanted. Plush interior, back up and cargo cam, nice stereo etc.. not cheap however.

Lift pump and water separater with an additional filter will help your CP3. Helps supply low pressure fuel to the pump. Check the duramax forum for great info.

I am surprised and disappointed name calling (dork) is being resorted to here.
I stated my opinion of the two SLT dodges I owned
U joint failure at 15k miles
track bar failure at 18k miles
Wheel bearing failure at 13k miles
why? cheap parts, fact not speculation.

I bought them at the time because i believed they would be the best option for an HD truck, I was wrong

I bought an 88 Chevy new. It was the biggest piece of junk I ever owned. Would I buy another Chevy today? In a heartbeat! Every thing about then is different. Ther isn’t one part that is the same, they are designed and built by different people assembled in a different factory. They are as different as a Ford and a Chevy.

We have owned all brands last 45 years except Ford and Nissan so have no opinion there. No more GMs and Toyotas are not enough truck for my use. IHC pickups are not made anymore. Have had good and bad experiences with Dodge/Ram. The 2016 Ram 3500 is great so far. CTD with Aisan is great combination for my use. This is the first big truck the DW will drive but she isn't towing with it yet.

Hi

Let’s see here.

I talked to a fellow at the diesel pump a few days ago he was filling a very nice looking 2006 Duramax, 450,000 miles on the engine and had to replace transmission at 400,000 miles used over loaded hauling cows all of its life (transmission not heavy duty?)

A friend of mine was upset the dealer wouldn’t take his 2009 Duramax in on triad the dealer took the time to explain that they just could not take a truck with 650,000 miles on it no engine change or transmission change operated overloaded hauling cows all of its life (transmission not heavy duty?).

I am changing the front wheel bearing pack on a 1999 F350 4X4 total miles unknown but it is so old and beat up that it no longer is used on the road motor and transmission still going strong.

Got a 2000 dodge with the Cummins with auto transmission still running but no one uses it they prefer the Ford and the 2005 Duramax that’s in the same fleet.

I have 5 heavy duty Cummins, Cat, Komatsu, JD and Kubota diesels not in trucks in the same fleet running several different kinds of equipment.

They all do the job they were designed to do and they all have some maintenance problems.

So just pick the truck you like that is built to haul the load you want and enjoy it.

Ram Fan Blogs do not qualify as "fact". The Allison T1000 was a medium duty (4500-5500) transmission before being adapted to the Duramax. Aisin was an attempt (and a good one) to catch up. Here (below link) is one comparison, albeit a little outdated, since both the Allison and Aisin have been updated since then. There is a reason they make adapters to fit the Allison to both Cummins and Powerstroke engines. Haven't seen any adapters to go the other way.

Everybody has their opinion and preference. They are all good and no particular one is better then the other. All have issues some way or the other.
There will always be one that boasts his brand is the best and I just ignore.

All of the equipment I post in my last post except for the one at the top of the list I have personal performed or supervised the maintenance on.

One thing I have noticed about diesels they don’t like to sit for long periods and they don’t like to be slow timed.

All of the long lived ones have been worked very hard every day,

Phil P
