2014 3850FL EMS Installation with pictures

Started on the mods to the new rig today. Got the autostart for hte generator installed which was simply changing a couple of connection plugs ont he generator wiring. Also got the EMS installation completed and have documented the installation with photos. The rig is very similar to the 3750 so I had a hunch the automatic transfer switch was beneath the coat closet. This area is accessible by removing the first basement wall panel on the left on the front door side of the rig. First photos show the auto-transfer switch location behind the first panel:

The first step was determining the location for the EMS box. Fortunately the automatic transfer switch was placed low enough on the backer board so the obvious location for the EMS was directly above it. The input side of the EMS was wired to the output side of the automatic transfer switch. Although this is not required for the generator, I prefer it this way so that I can monitor usage on each line inside the rig whether the power feed is generator or shore power. This photo shows the initial wiring completed.

Next, I again chose the coat closet for the location of the remote readout for the EMS. Installation consisted of drilling one entry hole for the teephone wire which connects the readout to the EMS and attaching the readout above it. These photos show the readout location:

A closer view:

The wiring was then completed on the output side of the EMS to the power feed for the rig which was initially removed from the automatic transfer switch output side:

Then finally, the covers were replaced and here is the final view of the completed project before the basement panel was replaced:

Since the rig is at the mini-storage lot, the EMS installation was verified by firing up the generator and checking the readout on the remote display. Everything was correct. Tommorrow the work will continue with the secondary battery switch installation, sliding garbage can installation beneath the kitchen sink, installation of a strap to hold down the dryer on it's shelf, and some other small miscellaneous items such as racks, etc. per DW's request. More photos tommorrow of additional mods.
