foul smell from bathroom/shower water

Water from the bathroom and shower faucets have a foul (sewer smell). The kitchen and outside shower are clear w/o any smell. My unit is a 3455SA and I can find no reason for the smell. Is there a vent somewhere that could be transmitting the smell to the fresh water. Anyone have a similar problem or can help me ?

Are you sure the odor is from the faucet? We had some odor from the bath a while back and I determined it was coming from the drains. I got some Odorlos tank treatment for the gray tanks and it solved the problem. I hadn't been using any treatment in them before. It was definitely a nasty smell before I started doing the treatment. This started when DW had her knee replaced and was not in the rig for several weeks, so I was not having to empty the tanks as often, and the weather was pretty warm in August.

A common cause is a washer hookup that is not being used. If this is you case, flush the washer lines and chances are the stale water in the lines that you flush out will be the culprit.

We had the same problem with ours. The drain in the shower dosn't have a regular pee-trap, it has a waterless trap ,there are a couple of things you can do , put a new waterless trap in or install a regular pee-trap in the drain line under the shower which is what I did and it works fine now. As Bingo said, if you don't have a washer connected that is most likely the problem. Flush that line first before you do anything else. It's a well documented problem.

I find that hair and soap form a grease that just keeps building up and getting more rank. This is always associated it seems with bathrooms. Depending on what kind of soap you use will decide how bad and quick the problem arises.

Like above I would first eliminate the cause being the washer drain but after that using a small brush to clean the top end of the drain might help.

It very well could be odors from the water heater and the bath water supply gets it and not the kitchen sink due to the closeness of the bath to the heater. Put a quarter cup of bleach in the hose leading into the rv, after any filtration, then turn on the bathroom hot water faucets in the sink and shower to deliver the chlorine to the hot water heater. Someone said that if you leave the grey tank valve open you can vent the whole park sewer system thru you rig.

I'd side with the non used washer theory. Although it was plumbed for a washer ... we don't use the washer in our 3150RL. The bathroom sink got to smelling just like rotten eggs. I ran several gallons of water out both washer lines in the closet and the smell instantly went away. I got under the sink cabinet, disconnected the lines going to the washer, and capped them since we have no need for a washer.

If it is a rotten egg smell, that's different from what's being described here. Rotten egg smell (aka sulfur water) is caused by the water supply has too much hydrogen sulfide and occurs when this water is heated then comes out your hot water faucets. You can search the web for how to handle this. I understand it is not dangerous to ingest, but it does stink bad.

Is this what the OP is describing? I think not; I think the other suggestions are matching what the OP describes. I have had sulfur water twice in my Monty ownership and if the OP had this smell it would be MUCH worse.

OK ... I chose wrong on the description ... my sink water smelled bad and flushing the washer lines fixed it. Since we don't use the washer, I capped the lines, the smell has not returned in 5 years. This may not be the OP's answer, but it has cured several stinky sinks over the years on the MOC.

Thank you all for the help. I do have washer hookup that I have never used and often thought about disconnecting and capping off. Will wait till I get home and cap it off. This may be the problem. I have flushed lines, tried all kinds of tank deoderant, nothing worked so am hopefull that is the problem. Again, thanks to all for the information.

My vote is for the washer line, too. I installed a shutoff on mine, and no more smell.
