Belly Opening

A previous owner cut a hole in the under belly for some reason. I discovered it when I noticed a piece of tape hanging down. The opening is about 3’ square and located on the door side, at the edge, just aft of the wheels. Does anyone know what is above that area? Also, I used some generic tape to re-seal the cuts but is there a specific tape I should use?

I clean the coroplast really well and then use Black Gorilla Tape to seal up the seams. It held for 8 years on my old 2955. This 3700 has only been taped for a year (thanks to a dealer service guy cutting the coroplast when it was not that tough to drop it).

Why do you think the opening was there to begin with?

I have no solid answer. Maybe someone was checking the frame near a shackle?

I’ve cut access through mine at the black tank valve and galley valve, I used 2” x 1/8 aluminum flat bar to use as a stop and screwed it back to gather.

the belly pan (coroplast) is easy enough to drop without cutting, the fasteners are unique, at least on mine they are a drive pin type with a rubber grommet to retain them in place, not reusable. I'm using stainless self drilling as perhaps future access may be required. I dropped mine for valve access and replace both gray and black valves with electric, work great! gorilla tape is good tape for those incidental repairs, good luck if you plan to remove it. I feel the less seams I put in the coroplast the better off I am. beware dropping the coroplast you will be rained on with sawdust, wood cutouts (drain lines), wiring and anything else that may have been dropped or not secured during manufacturing, safety glasses a must.

Be very careful about cutting as the hydraulic line lie on the coroplast. I had a s—t for brains service tech cut two lines on my rig.

Just got done dropping mine to replace the black tank valve valve No problem to remove the fasteners holding the coraplast pry bar and a hammer they came out easy. New valve did not have a hole for cable to attach so put the handle back on and drilled through the handle and rod then removed handle Putting coraplast back up was a snap, cut a2 X4 to length needed 19” on mine then screwed a 5 ft 1 x 4 to it used it as a cripple to raise coraplast and screwed It up I believe the problem was in the cable adjustment and not the valve but valve replaced anyway
