I would never expect Donna to take a picture in that cold weather. I had to run out there, set up my tripod , set the shutter timer, and run back into the trailer. The thong offered no protection from the cold, some things were shrinking and I was flattered that a man in his fifties would get so much attention from the highway traffic which runs adjacent to our campsite.
There were the squeals of brakes, the loud metallic sounds of bumpers smashing together and peals of laughter.

The sacrifices I make to bring scientific evidence to this forum are sometimes extreme but I like to go into an argument with facts to back up my claims.........even if it makes me less of a man to do it.

we have them in ours, and we will order the next one with them as well. We are very happy with them! Our last Montana didn't have them, but we custom ordered this one with them. The condinsation was constant with the single pane....much better with the dual panes. It all is up to your preferances and how your going to use them. If your going to be full time I would say it's a must have. We are only part time, but we bought ours as if we were full time.

Thanks BillyRay, you having had a Montana with both types of glass have the experience to know the difference. I know when I put my hand on the single glass pane of the door window, it is much cooler than any of my double panes. I will hopefully buy one more Fiver in my lifetime, if Keystone wants my repeat business, they better keep offering DP as an option.

Bob & Lee, the bottom windows of the back picture window on the 3400 do slide open. I like their placement, as they provide fresh air if desired, but they still leave a large, unostructed view out the big window - unlike many other 5vers. On the cranks... I hate all crank windows. Screws loosen, gears strip, always sticking, shoulders ache from reaching for them in odd positions (not "Don" odd - no offense, Don). I am very happy with the sliding ones.

BillyRay, just don't tell us you did your research in a thong, too...

*On Edit~ Bob & Lee, our 3400 is a 2007 with dual panes...

Dave, no offense taken, being odd is good . I am only partly nuts. I only know a few normal people and they are completely nuts. Take care, Don.

Now I'm really confused! After reading this thread, I went to my local dealership to discuss options and the salesman said that the dual pane windows were unnecessary and gave me a copy of the information that was quoted at the beginning of this thread. I like the idea of a little more insulation and quiet that the dual panes offer, but he says that you can't open any of the dual pane windows. We sure like cross ventilation when the temperature is right. You guys say that your dual pane windows slide open, with the exception of the rear. Do we have another model change or a misinformed salesman?

By the way, after reading the latter parts of this thread, I will never try to look in the windows of a rig parked at Walmart to check out the interior.

I think your salesman is misinformed. The only window that you can't leave open is the bedroom one over the dresser. It opens but there is no screen. I'm not sure if the new ones are different and not sure about the tint but I have seen dual panes tinted so hopefully some of our members with new units will be along to settle this. We do have dual panes because we don't intend to be in the kind of weather where they are needed. We find the interior of our unit very sound proof.
Happy trails...................

Hi Don,

We have a 2006 2980RL

All windows are dual pane
All windows are tinted.
All but the rear (picture window) are sliders W/screens
except like Parrothead said the emergency window over the dresser.
It opens (push out)no screen.
Wouldn't be without them.

The "Frost King" Outdoor winterizing plastic is working great on my unit! $20.00 for all windows and I have some left over. Works so good, 3 other campers (full-timers) at my campground have or are in the process of putting some on their units. After putting it on all the windows, I could tell such a difference and no condensation. Actually, one of the campers here had condensation (and they have storm windows), and after they installed theirs the condensation went bye bye. After this year, I don't intend to be sitting at a campground in the winter, so I won't need anything.

My 07 3400 has dual pane, tinted windows that open and close. Are they worth it, you bet, spend 2 much time winter camping to be without them. Also do the "frost king" thing when the temp dips below -15. We camp North Dakota in February. I don't like to run from the weather, if it's winter and we want to go north, we go north. That is the freedom of an RV...

I noticed at the rally there were a few members who have the dual pane windows on their new 07 Montana's. Yes they are tinted, but if you compare the single pane vs. a dual pane, you can see that the single pane windows are much, much darker. I believe it all comes down to a personal choice. Go with what best fits each persons needs.
