Re-leveling

We've been onsite a couple of weeks and it seems like there is starting to be a bit more movement in the camper when someone walks around. We have 3 slides and the 6 pt auto leveling system. Will it hurt to re-level with the slides out or do we need to put them in first? Thinking we've had our blocks settle since setting up.

If you do a manual adjustment I doubt if you'd have any trouble. Auto level with jacks already extended sometimes causes problems

Personally, I would have no problem re-leveling in manual mode with the slides out and have done so on occasion. I, personally again, would not use the auto-level function with the slides out since the rig dips to the front at the beginning and I would not think the sideways stress on the slide-outs would be desirable. It may be fine, I just do not think I would use the auto-level in this manner. Hopefully, some more informed members can correct me if my line of reasoning is incorrect.

Found x-chocks loose and rear stabilizer settled. After a few weeks I tried both auto and manual mode, do what works best for you.

Occasionally if we see that the ground has settled, I will retract the rear and center jacks and then hit auto level which works just fine.

Manual fine, not auto level. We sit in Florida for five months each winter, and like the manual option for adjustments.

Like Mike, over the years I've done both. If I do use Auto I do it like Les suggested.

If mine settles some I retract the center and rear jacks and raise the front a little manually and then hit the Auto Level button. I have done this with the slides out many times and no problems what so ever.

New it this so I have to ask. I have the 6 point leveling, do you normally leave the system on after setup or shut it off? Also I have seen so many different setups as the landing gear goes. With pads under them without. Even saw 1 with large wooden blocks so there was less travel in the legs.

Any input would be great.

The lippert system automatically shuts off. You do not have a choice. I always use pads, blocks help in uneven terrain, or to reduce leveler leg length, ie better stability.

Patrick, turn the system off after done leveling. I always use 2x12 boards about 18" long under all my pads...always. sometimes a site will be very unlevel with one area moreso than another, so I may double up boards where needed. I use boards because I find some sites very soft, some very hard and the gravel big and acting like marbles, some paved concrete and some blacktop where it can be easy to leave indents. John

If I think the legs will extend say past 60/70%, I'll throw some plastic leveling blocks under only those legs. Otherwise, wheel chocks, pull truck clear, and Auto Level. I would not Auto Level with slides out....thats opinion not expert advice.

Yeah, I made the mistake of buying those really tough 1" thick recycled tire pads that are 8" square, and I noticed rubbery type movement every time I would use them, so I went to my 4" x 6" x 18" pressure treated wood blocks that I made, and I mounted nice big gate handles on them to make them easy to carry and stow, and they worked much better.

Anyone else have trouble with the large rubber pads?

I just purchased and installed the new SnapPad Xtra rubber pads that attach to the round feet of the Levelup system. We are parked on a side slope of black top at the RV park we have stayed at many times before, but never in this spot, and the feet were slightly sliding from all the vibration from freight trains passing by, clear on the other side of the freeway. The pads totally eliminated the movement.

Ok here's a leveling question seeing as we just got our Montana last fall. I've noticed that even with auto leveling the doors in our front closet tend to keep wanting to slide open when we close them. (to left side of rig) The rest of the rig seems level. Used both a level on the floor in main area and even with ball bearing (no roll). Anyone else see that happen?

Kemo ... you'll find any RV is not built like a house ... many things are not square including the door jambs. Check a couple of places on the floor, your fridge, your dining table, dresser in bedroom ... you'll probably get varying results of "level".

After we do the auto level Helen opens the bathroom door to see if it remains open and does not move .That is our level and I manual adjust to that. Some use the stove top . The auto level sensors are on the frame front and rear so it levels the frame unfortunately not much else is level inside the RV.

That's what I figured. Plus the sliding door jam could be unlevel left to right. Thanks guys.

When we are "level" our closet sliding door in the bedroom wants to move a bit. DW put velcro on the door to stop that issue.
