Pin Weight of the 3400RL??
2008 3400RL pin weight is listed in the Montana specs as 2045 lbs. For those with a 3400, what is your actual pin weight after you have you rig loaded? Thanks

When we had our 2007/3400 we were running pretty close to 2800lbs. on the pin fully loaded.

I do not have air bags and do not have a problem. The truck drops about 1 1/2 inches when hooked up. The truck pulls it great. Just finished putting another 6,450 miles on the unit. We are full timers and have a lot of stuff in it.

Pin weight of 2311 lbs with a trailer weight of 12,831 lbs weighed on a CAT scale. We are only weekenders so not loaded very heavily.

Hi, I weighed our rig several different ways at a local feed mill and came up with a figure of 2995lbs. We have a 2005 Monty 3400RL pulled with a 2004 Dodge 2500 diesel. And this was loaded as near as I could figure but you know how that is...there's always a few things that "have to go" at the last minute. Hope this helps.

06 3400 loaded fairly heavy. Weighed by RVSEF at rally . pin weight 2915lbs . We just insrtalled air bags on our dually not because we were over any specs but because we ruined a set of front tires.

Not to hijack the thread, but Rich, can you explain in a little more detail about the front tire problem?? I assume you mean on the truck or on the rig?? How will the air bags help??

PW at 2,800. As stated by others before..."pulls fine" posts are not much help. Any diesel will "pull" any Montana. Pin weight is the key difference between trucks.

Bingo
My front truck tires were wearing on the outside edge. I figured my front end was out of alignment. Took it to a tire shop they checked it and said...nope it is perfect. Did not believe them. Took it to the Ford dealer here in Florida they checked the alignment and said. The alignment is perfect as is everything under there. However have seen this many times down here with Rv'ers. They asked me how much the rear end dropped when the 3400 was attached (PW @ 2900lbs)
about 2 inches said I..translate that to the front axle and it is about 4 inches said they and that is what caused weight to be lifted from the front axle and the tires to wear on the outside
edge and it was noisy like a flat spot (wump, wump, wump)
Took the truck to a Goodear dealer explained what the Ford dealer said and there was another Rv'er from Canada there with the same issue.. Got two new tires and we are in whisper mode.
Got airbags at Camping world and will bring up the rear by the amount the camper drops it when hooked up.
Tire guys jump in here..that is my story and the cure???
