Question about LCI LevelUp System

We are at a CG this week that had beautiful level concrete pads for the trailers. So this was the first time we were able to use the Auto Level feature. This is amazing to see the first time. Anyway when we leave tomorrow I understand the memory feature and how to activate it so the trailer comes back to the height where you unhooked. But here is where I am unclear. Before I do the memory thing, do I need to manually retract the rear jacks so that they don't get damaged from the front lifting? Or does the system do this for you?

Thanks

Hello Bob. I had often wondered this myself when I first got my Level-Up system a few years ago. I contacted LCI and was told (hope it's true) that there is a design in the system to relieve pressure on the rear jacks when the front jacks are extending. Hard to see it happening when you operate it, but I have hooked up and un hooked without retracting the rear jacks several times now and not noticed any issues. Really a neat system that has worked very well. -Glenn

We also were concerned about the rear jacks when hitching to the new Level-up system. But just as Glenn said, it is designed to relieve pressure as they adjust to the hitch memory position. Don't worry, enjoy.

The system will equalize, don't worry, be happy

Never had a problem with mine. Except some times the memory is like mine and I have to reajust a bit to hook up. I do LOVE the auto retract just hit it and watch the legs all come up.

Just follow the step by step on the sticker below the controls. Works great. Had the same concerns! Have had our rig since April. Used manual for first 4 to 6 weeks then used auto level but still retracted manually. Used system as intended just last camping trip...3 months it took to feel ok with it!

I like to unhook higher and rehook lower so I don't use that feature, but wouldn't be without level-up.

FYI... 5+ years full-timing... Never put back jacks up first.

Nope auto level means auto level. That is the only way we do it. Just hit the switch and stand back and watch.

Only thing I've noticed about the Level Up is the memory feature doesn't lower to hitch position, only raises. Not sure why.

BTW, don't demonstrate the auto retract feature if your TV is not hooked up. If you do, press cancel quickly. :-)

What's the deal with being hooked up or not when using Auto Level feature? Can you explain your statement?

When the Level-up system goes into it's "Dance" to find level the nose of the rig can go way down below what is normal hitching level and could hit the truck bed rails if unhitched and the truck still under the front overhang.

It is supposed to remember where it was when you unhitched and will return it'self there automatically if you tell it to.

It will do that. Remember you have to raise the pin out of the hitch and perhaps to get it over the Tailgate so it will always be higher than the hitch so when you hit the auto function it will lower itself. At least that is the way mine has always worked.

I think you would have 6 legs coming up and your unit will set on the ground???

You know I never thought about that but I do believe you are correct. You would have a low rider Montana
and It would be fun getting it back up. Never considered auto retract with the truck not hooked up....

Yup, we were warned by the dealer, no auto level until unhooked, truck is clear of the trailer and leave auto retract alone unless hooked up. Took this forum to know the front has to be raised higher than the rear for the auto level to work properly.

Yep, ran into a guy last year that accidently hit auto retract before he was hooked up, did a lot of bed damage on a brand new truck...OUCH

This is also true if you are not hooked up...Yikes
