I have the same truck and my rear axle is only rated for 6,000 lbs. My 310RE comes in at 5,820 lbs on the rear axle. I think ram is kidding with these numbers it is a total CYA deal. I am starting to think there are more people overweight than under. Just my 2 cents.

When I ordered my truck it had an option to upgrade the axial ratings to 5500 on the front and 6500 on the rear. With a single rear tire it hard to get the weight over the rear spot on. Also the 5th manufactures pin weight I beleave are heavier then they advertise. This 3061RL is suppose to have a dry pin of around 2600 lbs, and the truck Carry capacity is 2950 lbs so this a little over does not surprise me. I agree the probably most single rear tire 2500 trucks are over weight.

Would it be helpful for us Ford guys to share a CAT scale ticket... When I fine my phone I will take a pic. I'm an 09 F-250, 6.4 shot box, with a 2011 3615RE. My scale is before my wife got a chance to load up the STUFF!

Post it up....
We were loaded, 2/3 of water and the front gray and black tanks had some waste in them, basement probably had 500 lbs and the very front conpartment maybe 150lbs.

The rear axle in a 2500 Ram is rated at 6000lbs. It is the same axle that is in the 3500SRW rated at 7000lbs. What limits the axle rating in a 2500 is;
a) the standard tires LT265/70R17 have a rating of 3197lbs ea.
b) no overload springs.
The LT 275/70R18 tire that is standard on the 3500SRW is rated for 3640lbs ea. Those along with the overload springs will get you to the 7000lb rating.
If you have the 18 inch tire and wheel combo on your 2500, a set of Timbren SRS on the rear will get you to the 3500SRW rating, which should be good for about 4300lb. payload.
And just some other info the brake system is the same between the 2500 and 3500SRW.

All of this assumes that you have a leaf spring rear suspension. And just one other note, the Timbren SRS suspension upgrade will not degrade the OE ride even when loaded and there is absolutely no maintenance, simple bolt on adjust it once and you are done.

LT285/60/R20 Michelin Defenders and Firestone Transforce are E rated with 3640 capacity, I run Michelins. In 2015 Ram started using coil springs on the 2500 so I installed a set of Airlift 5000 bags. In the megacab and crew cab 2500 with 6.4L and 6.7L front and rear axle ratings are 5500/6500, if you have a 5.7L it's 5250/6000. Ram has ratings from 5000/6000 thru 5500/6500 depending on the truck in the 2500 class that is ordered. I know that the diff has a 11-1/4 ring gear and the 3500 DRW have a 11-3/4 ring gear at least in 15 and 16.
Just some added info on 15/16 Ram 2500.

Found phone. This scale is right off showroom floor. After loaded a 2000 lbs. more gross.
Ford is the same way.. Same rear axle on 250 and 350.. Air Springs are awesome, and make the ride better and safer.

Had the same issue with our 15 ram 3500 srw.. over weight.. just bought a 17 dually, AISIN, auto level, factory 5th wheel prep, Longhorn.. JUST TRY TO FIND THIS TRUCK! Took us 2 years.. went to RENO, CARSON CITY, LAS VEGAS, ANAHEIM, AND EVEN DAVE SMITH IN IDAHO! Not ONE! The dealers had LOTS OF KIDS TRUCKS. JACKED UP BIG TIRE CUMMINS SHORT BEDS... Why in the world would a company build one
bad tow machine and dealers not carry it?. It was almost that RAM had a truck capable of towing over 30,000 lbs, but no one had it!.just what we need. A shortbed megacab jacked up 19 feet in YHE air with 50 inch tire.... good gosh..we don't even worry about weight now and no need to weigh... Great feeling...

Remember if like the 250 - your max truck weight is 10,000#s. You are at 11300#s
The front and rear axle max numbers are not added together.

It does not matter what you add to your truck Timbrins/airbags/helper springs etc. None of these things or anything else for that matter will change the payload/towing capacity of the truck. They may make it ride better and not sag as much with the weight put upon it but it will not change the manufacture's ratings. It will still be legally over weight.
