The 3 slide roofs on my 2017 305RL were all replaced - not patched - a month ago under warranty by the local Keystone dealer (Camping World). They installed drip trays under the gearboxes. I'm not happy about the drip trays... but it's all Keystone would authorize.

Would someone please take a picture of the drip trays so we can see what is used and how it is attached. Ours has not dripped a drop so far but I'd rather install these drip pans or fabricate something myself before any damage is done.

Wish I would have known about this before our purchase a few weeks ago. I would have made sure the problem was addressed before any deal was done.

You can drain the tray while you replace the gearbox and patch the roof.
This is not a funny situation to be in.
I suppose if Keystone is going to be at Quartzite or another Montana gathering you could all pull up to the booth and park until you get your issues solved.

How did you get to the one in the bedroom?
I don't have enough clearance between the crown molding and ceiling to get one hand in there.

Is it possible to remove the trim to make it more accessible ?? If so, when you reattach it...it WILL be better than what the factory done!!!

I hear ya on that!

I'm going to use a flash light and mirror to try to locate the mounting
screws of the crown molding/trim. I cant see or feel any on the front or sides. It may be glued as well? I'll find out soon I guess.

I didn't install them myself. Not sure how the CW tech got access to the Bedroom Slide Gearbox area... it's a bit tight. I'd see if the trim could be removed though, as suggested above.

It appears the keystone guys simply used a brad nailer and shot about 6 or 8 brads/finish nails into each end of the trim through the front.

Does this sound about right? I don't want to pry much without knowing if there is an actual wood screw somewhere I'm not seeing. Has anyone had to remove or repair their top piece trim of the slides?

YES, it does sound right. Dealer had to replace most of the facia on our 2017 355rl living room slide when it fell off during one our trips. Hopefully our new one won't have the same issues.

I've said before, the person(s) nailing the trim should not be permitted within miles of a nail gun. I'd actually be surprised if they knew which end of a hammer to hold!

Leaking Gear Boxes

Sorry to hear that.... I'd sure like to see Keystone stand up and respond to this problem by replacing the gearboxes. I'm not convinced that they're overfilled and will stop leaking once the oil level drops to where it should have been when manufactured (as some have reported being told by Keystone).

the info about being overfilled was given to me by the mfg/distributor of the gear box's, All keystone is doing is having the dealers install drip trays, and repair the roofs if bubbled. My were done the beginning of January by our selling dealer.

We are having all three gear boxes fitted with drip trays and the slide roofs are to be patched not replaced. Keystone wouldn't authorize replacing the roofs. At least they are picking up the tab for the trays and patched roofs. The problem was found by our repair shop this week when we took the 5er in for something else.

That is just wrong. Dealer should press them to fix it right.

from what I am reading, it seems to be a matter of push comes to shove whether or not it is a full roof material replacement of just a patch job. A lot has to do with how your dealer presents the claim to keystone.

Agreed. But it should be automatic to replace the slide roof without having to jump through hoops.
