Self Adjusting Brakes
We arrived home today from the Fall Rally. Gave up on the idea of going to Watkins Glen. RAIN RAIN RAIN nearly all the way.
While at the rally, I purchased a set of self adjusting brakes for the Montana. WHAT A DEAL!!
Before we left for home, I observed a "OL" code on the brake controller. Mo trailer squeezed me in on Thursday afternoon to check on the problem and installed the new brakes. Very nice improvement to the '05 2955. Much improved braking. He didn't find anything on the code but it did not return all the way home. I did unplug and re-plug it before we left. Thought that I may have loosened it up after banging it with my knee getting in and out of the truck.

Had code early on with the brake on your 05, it was wear on the wire to the magnet. Looking at changing out the brakes soon. I'm guessing the new brakes are a big improvement? Ozz posted earlier that we could buy the next size up axle rating brakes and you would gain the benefit of a larger magnet? Glad to hear the code went away!

I had the 2955 weighed at the rally. Was surprised that it had 5080# axles. Thought it had 6000#. All the weights came back good - not overloaded. I had purchased the brakes before I knew about the lower axles but found out they were good for up to 7000# axles. Was told they would enhance the braking on the smaller unit. They were right. Glad I bought them and had them installed there.

John I have the same axle that you have on your Monty. I'm also wanting to add new brakes to our trailer can you pass along the part number of the brakes you had installed? Thanks

Dennis - I believe that the part numbers are:
K23-464-00 for the left hand side (2 each)
K23-465-00 for the right hand side (2 each)
These are part numbers for 7000# axles but I was told they would fit my 8 bolt hubs 5020# axles, which they did.
I don't have the original boxes as I had them installed before we left for home.
The right and left hand side is determined by standing at the rear of the camper and looking forward.
Also purchased was two seal kits and 4 rubber grease plugs.
I would call Dexter Axle and talk to them to be sure. 574-295-7888
