The Hickory Edition Package and Moving to Montana Package are required "options" on the Mountaineer. Mine has the 1/2" shackles and wet bolts. We did the table and chairs, king mattress (the Montana we looked at did have a better mattress), and 2nd ac. As far as weight, ours was 12.2k dry and the same length Montanas show as 12.5k, and 12.9k dry weights so not a whole lot of difference. The salesman told me that the solid surface countertops were not Corian but another brand and the cabinet doors were hickory as the main differences from the Montana. We looked at a Montana to see how the bedroom/bath was laid out since they didn't have a Mountaineer in stock and it is pretty much the same except no cedar lining in the closet, no vanity lights and the tv in bedroom was just mounted on the wall with no cabinetry around it. We do not have a fiberglass back cap and I haven't seen any backup lights. We do have the remote that controls jacks, stabilizers, slides, awning, and security lights which I love. We went with the Mountaineer as we needed a bunkhouse and couldn't get one in the Montana. These were the only options we could choose from:
Dual Pane Windows

Slide Awning Package

King Bed

Free Standing Dinette w/ 4 Chairs

Hi Back Desk Chair

1st Euro Recliner w/ Ottoman (357 only)

2nd Euro Recliner w/ Ottoman (357 only)

(1) Air Mattress HAB Sofa IPO Bottom Bunk (346 only)

(2) Air Mattress HAB Sofas IPO Bottom Bunks (345 only)

12' Four Door Refrigerator (290, 357 and 362 only)

Electric Fireplace (290, 295, 345, 357, 358, 362 only)

2nd 13,500 BTU A/C in Bedroom

Power Vent Fans

Generator Ready (Onan 5.5 Kw Specifications)

Onan Marquis Gold 5.5 kw - LP Generator (Requires Generator Ready)

I have owned both a Mountaineer 342 PHT and a Montana 3750Fl. I agree with other posts. The Montana is an upgrade in many ways. Both are nice units but the Montana is my choice having owned both brands.

We went with the 2012 326 Mountaineer as the floor plan is nearly identical as the Montana 3150. Mountaineer weight is lighter yet 1.5 ft longer, and the final selling price between the two units was also a factor. Both have the slam bagage doors, ceiling height on the 2012 is the same, dislike is the size of the microwave and counter space but again cost and weight drove our decision. I was told the King bed is an option on the 326 Mountaineer? Price, Weight, and value!

One of the things I noticed when looking for ours was that the 2013 has the larger microwave now.

I think, but would probably have to look at the specifications of the 2013 Mountaineers but the larger Microwave is probably dependant on the Kitchen lay out. We knew we were buying a smaller Microwave in the 2012 326 model but that was never a factor for the purchase, floor plan, weight , and cost. The 326 Mountaineer was discontinued.
