Slam Latch Adjustments

During our walk-through inspection, my husband noticed that the seal on one of our basement doors was not sealed well (he could see sunlight passing through). The dealer "adjusted" the slam latches and now it is thoroughly sealed; however, I think he may have adjusted them too much, because the doors are EXTREMELY difficult to close now. Does anyone know the process for adjusting the slam latches?

Good question!! I wonder if they replaced the weather stripping where the light was coming through and just said that? Look around the entire perimeter of the door and see if extra stripping has been added.
By the way, we are only 25 miles apart!! I live in Auburn!

We had a similar problem and the fix was to replace the seal. It would be a surprise to me if the slam latches could be adjusted enough to make a serious difference.

Ours would not lock. Solution was to raise the inside compartment lock latch by adding washers to slightly raise the latch so the door would catch when closed and then be lockable.
