Cap Lights Loose

The string at the top of the front cap (LEDs) is hanging down. What "glue" to use to reattach them. They are working just blowing in the wind! Thanks,

Some people refer to them as "eyebrow" lights. There is a string across the top and two lines at the bottom on the front cap that look sorta like eyebrows. These are not hitch lights. My only concern is to keep them from blowing in the wind and ripping out as the only thing holding them to the camper is the electrical wires. They don't serve any real purpose to me but the camper has them so I need to deal with them.

Get a tube of clear silicone RTV (room temperature Vulcanizing rubber) 25 year life expectancy.
GE makes one as well as permatex.
Any hardware store or home store or any automotive store carries it.

Thanks, dealer said use Gorilla glue but will not stick! Thought about just cutting off and sealing the hole. But, try to reattach first. DW not happy about my first idea!

Okay, Gorilla glue would not stick. Tried silicone sealant mentioned above and it is not sticking. Used blue painter tape to hold to no avail. Both were on over an hour. Don't think I can stand on the ladder in the back of the truck for over an hour while either cures. One major problem is how to hold the "rubber" backed length with the lights in it on the camper to keep it straight. It will sketch easily. Mine may be the first one with this problem since I think these are relatively new? They are worthless especially when they fall off!

The silicone will take longer that to cure. Read the package. I have never seen where a clean surface this stuff will not stick to.
Use masking tape or whatever you have on hand as a temporary fastener to hold the light while the silicone cures. You don't have to hold on to it for the curing time.
I've used this for many purposes and it has never let me down.

In further reading your post above. You may have to remove the existing rubber backing. The silicone will replace this for a weather tight seal

Cure time may take 24 to 48 hours

I've used it on metal plastic glass and ceramic.

IF you are looking for a 5 minute fix. Get yourself some devcon 5 minute epoxy.
And Mix it up. However, It will harden fast and your working time is restricted.
It will also yellow and become fragile the longer it is exposed to UV light.
Life expectancy in this application will only maybe be a year or two at best and will not look good once it yellows.

Try Fuze It, by liquid nail. I swear that stuff will stick to anything.

uhftx: I am sure you are correct. I appreciate your input and any from others. This project has gotten the better of me and my patience! Just being on the ladder trying to fit this back in the recessed area is a pain. Now, trying to tape the lights back in a more secure manner. Again, trying to stretch the rubber to fit properly is difficult. I agree the curing time is longer but keeping the rest of the light length in place is difficult. I am trying two different methods on a short length to see what works the best. Thanks again.
