Question about tire pressure change

I know to check the tire pressure when cold (before driving on them).
I know that if one tire has a diffrent pressure than the others, I need to pay more attention to it to find out what the problem is.

3 weeks ago I checked the tire pressure.
Montana all 4 at 80#
TV Rear 80#
TV Front 55#

Today
Montana all 4 at 68#
TV Rear 70#
TV Front 48#

Both checks were with the same tire gage (a good one I trust).

Only thing I can think of is the tempature difference 3 weeks back 85, today 58. And humidity 3 weeks ago low, today higher.

So do I fill them back up to 80# and 55#, or leave them, and assume they will be correct once they heat up?

rogue,
I would suggest adjusting the pressure if you are going to be towing in the lower temperatures, but if your expecting the temp to be in the 80's leave pressure where it's at.

Just make sure your pressures are correct for the climate you are presently in. If it's cold, make sure the pressures are set for that particular time. If you then hit some warmer weather, check the pressures in the morning before you pull out and reduce the pressure to the correct amount.

Hummm. 80 to 68 on the Montana is a big drop. Do you still have the OEM valve stems..They are known to leak air. I set my tire temps in the shade and when the camper has not been driven for awhile. I have seen a slight change in temp on the tires when on the sun side. I can tell you from monitoring the Doran tire pressure system that I have seen the pressure rise by 10lbs or more when running at interstate speeds. I just checked my tire pressure this Am in preperation for a weekend trip(outside temp 56 in the shade) and they were still at 80lbs +- 2lbs and they had not been checked since the fall rally..

With a pretty even spread in pressuer like that, and that much difference, I'd suspect the tire guage being the culprit. Bill

The rule of thumb is for every 10° Fahrenheit change in air temperature, your tire's inflation pressure will change by about 1 psi (up with higher temperatures and down with lower).

I think I would be double checking with another guage as Bill has stated. Something just doesn't sound right, see the attached for some interesting reading on the subject:
