Vacuum Cleaner
DW says our vacuum cleaner "sucks." (read that as does not have sucking power)
Who has the best canister or small upright vacuum cleaner?
Help me put this topic at home to rest please!!!!!!

Sorry, Wayne, but you didn't say if it was a built in or if you are using an upright?
I installed my own Dirt Devil in our Montana and Patti said she'll never go back. She loves the storage and not having to worry where to store the upright.
However, before I installed ours, we had a Hoover that did a good job!

I would look at an installed model too. Saves space and weight. Keystone install the ones sold by InterVac Designs ( www.intervacdesign.com), we have one and it works well, or as Emmel mentioned, some people have installed Dirt Devils. When we did lug one around it was a Eureka canister style, it worked well. but was a pain to haul around.

Not looking for built in at this time. Looked at some of the "light weights." They weigh 9 pounds or less. Oreck has a nice one for the carpet, and give you a small one with all the attachments. Saw the demo on the small one. Had a funnel stuck on the end of the hose and picked a bowling ball up and held it there. That one definitely did "suck." Depending on the model, one has 5 year warranty with 3 free tune ups for $399, one had 10 year warranty with 10 yearly tune-ups for $499, and the big one that weighed about 20 pounds was a 21 year warranty with 21 yearly tune-ups for $899
So, DW decided to stay with the $39 Wally-world special for now.
Funny how money talks in DW's mind.

Wayne you might check out the Eureka models at Wally World! We bought a smaller unit for our stick so we didn't have to lug the big heavy monster up and down the steps and it works like a charm on both wood floors and carpet. Really light weight and tremendous suction power! May not "hold up the bowling ball" strength but how many times do you need to pick up your bowling ball with a vacuum cleaner in the first place! The price is a whole lot less too!-- around $50-60! Let us know what you buy!

Hoover Wind Tunnel. I have the built in unit in my Monty but I still take my hoover out there when I return from a trip. The built in just doesn't pick up everything.

DW wants the tool attachments and a lot of the Stick lightweights do not come with them.
For that reason, we will be going with the Eureka 437AZ
Thanks for the inputs.
The input on the Eureka 402A got us to the 437AZ

Wayne,
Watch the paper, get a 20% off coupon from (Bed, Bath, and Beyond), then go get a dyson. I've never seen, even at Sams, a disount of 20% on a Dyson. Worth the money IMO, and I do the vac duties.

Steve is right. Go to http://www.lnt.com/mailinglist/index.jsp and you can get 20% off a Dyson. We purchased the animal model and it REALLY works well.

Thats it. We use ours in the home(stick) no biggie to tote to the Monty. I'm not sure I'd send that much just for the Monty unless I fulltimed. The Dyson just works.
