Didn't have the heart to say anything.

Pulled into MCD shades today to get new shades starting tomorrow. A Big Country pulled in next to us. Since our tire issues were on the street side and his had been on the passenger side we noticed each others issues right away. When the light hit his tires right I saw that his replacement tires were Marathons and so I bit my toung and steared the conversation in a new direction.

He would probably appreciate a heads up and knowledge of the history of the tires. Now and not down the road.

I have shares the history with several people and received a thank you after they found a problem.

I live near I81. Every summer I see people pulled off the exit with blown tires. When I can I stop to offer assistance. They all have China Bomb tires. I try to tell them their tires are the problem, just p1$$e$ them off. Most think they have the best tires made. That is all their SOB puts on their campers. I wind up telling them to just remember what I told them if they continue to have problems.
Our neighbor bought a $125000 dollar 5er. It came with Marathons. He had them changed to G614. His dealer said that going to cost me $1000. My neighbor said no it's going to cost you $1250.

We met a couple last winter here in Sumter Oaks. Had the discussion about the quality of original equipment tires. They are here again this winter, with the correct tires, after 6 blowouts. You can only give advice, not make someone take it.

Good friend (who has since passed away) had a blowout on his Mission tires. Replaced them with Marathons. Goodyear, they must be US made he assumed. Had two blowouts the first year on them. He was not happy when I showed him "Made in China" on the sidewall.

Three years ago friends of our had just completed their first year in a triple axle new fiver. They put about 5,000 miles on it that first year and had two blow outs. I tried to tell him he needed to get rid of his junk Marathons but his argument was that his SOB manufacturer would not have put them on if they were not going to work. He swore up and down that it was because they were pulling off on highway shoulders and picking up debris in the tread. One more blow out with damage and his wife made him get 6 Goodyear G614's installed. Has not had a tire issue for the past 3 years. Now I am trying to convince him he needs to replace the tires on his 1-ton TV. They are 8 or 9 years old with one already failing. He says he won't replace yet because "they still have some tread left on em".......

I'm not so convinced it is a China made issue as much as it is a wrong tire issue. Over the past few years I've noticed large trailers on the lots with E rated tires which are likely at the limit or close for those trailers. Lots of complaints and problems later people are now demanding G rated tires when they purchase and finally manufactures are listening and starting to install G rated tires on these units. I suspect a great many of the issues will likely start to go away if people actually pay attention to their tire pressures and park their tires on wood or similar when parked on concrete. At the Tampa show a couple weeks back I actually seen some H rated tires on a few 5'ers, Grand Design had them on a couple Momentum's. About time is all i can say.... I got rid of my E rated tires and went to G's (not 614's) as it was a time bomb waiting to go off. No issues and about 6000 miles on them since change.

I guess I should have added that the guy had blown out two and then blew out the spare. At that point he called Goodyear and had them replace his tires with the "right" tires for his rig. That's the reason I didn't go further and what made me look at the tires because they weren't g6114's. While he's here he's also having level-up installed and replacing his fridge with an 18 cubic foot model. He has a freezer in his basement as well as the new bigger fridge and feels his two batteries are enough to go boondocking. He just presented me with too much so that disagreeing with him on anything seemed a waste of my time.

As for 'China Bombs', The Sailuns load range 'G' on my rv has about 13,000 miles and it weighs 16,200 pounds.No problems so for and i rate them right up there with the Goodyear 614's for less than half the price. Good luck with the shades, i had them installed 2 weeks ago. They look nice but the operation of the shades and the daylight shade is what i like the best as i can leave them down all the time and easily see outside and just use the night shades for privacy. Good Luck.

ditto! I don't give advice unless they ask. some people resent being told or a person making a suggestion to them they usually blow it off as soon as you leave. then when they have a problem it too late.

My 2012 are. You'll have to crawl underneath your trailer and look at the inside of your rim where the max pressure will be stamped.

Very good possibility that the OEMs on a 2009 may or not be. Somewhere around the 2009-2010 time frame is when they changed. Our 2010 did have wheels rated to 110 PSI.
As noted, crawl under and check for info on the inside of a spoke.
