How to remove the hubcap
Silly Question
How does one remove the hubcap? I notice is spins a bit. I have not figured out how to pull it off. I do okay with child protective caps.

It has a flange on the backside that holds it in place. To remove, you need to remove the wheel.

LOL that is backwards. Usually you remove the hubcap and then the wheel.

I agree, this is an unusual application. After you remove the wheel, you push the cap through from the front. Once you forget to put the cap in the wheel a few times before you reinstall the wheel, you remember the sequence much easier.....

These are not hubcaps ... they are center caps ... most all aluminum wheels with the chrome center caps are equipped this way. The center cap goes on before you mount the wheel to the brake hub like has been explained. My boat wheels are the same configuration.

Ok - since we’re discussing caps - the cap has a removable plug and I noticed the wheel bearing has a removable plug - does that mean I have wet bearings on my ‘17 305RL? Only had the rig 7 months and it been to the dealer more that camp grounds ... some of them my fault so the dealer said.
And what is APDIO?

But you do not have wet bearings. They are not same as easy lube.

Sure wish mine came with wet bearings. Works fantastic on our boat trailer. Thanks to the OP for asking that question. I too, was wondering how the h*** that danged cap came off. I guess I'll have to take the tire off to simply find out what kind of bearings I have??

Rattle
I have a chatter when I move forward or back at slow speed much like a rock in a hubcap
Have you experienced this
No visible signs of defects in axle or wheel

And be careful with prying it out. Sometimes they come out when you don't want them to. I lost 2 on the road somewhere and that little plastic cap cost me $24 for 4 of them.
Since I don't use the easy lube, I put a dab of gorilla glue in a couple of spots on the edge of them to keep them from coming out again.

You don't show what rig you have, but I'm just guessing your rig has drum brakes. I would be pulling those drums off to check the brakes. It's possible that you may have brake parts floating around inside one of your drums. Several years ago while doing a brake inspection/bearing pack I found one of the brake assemblies had totally failed and the adjuster screw parts along with a couple other parts had been completely ground up inside the drum, and I had no indication the there was a problem with the brakes. I have since read of others that have had similar experiences. This is a photo of the brake backing plate assembly, or all that was left of it.
