First actual question from a new member. The Montana needs new shoes. I was just going to buy what's on her when I stumbled on this forum and the horror stories of Goodyear Marathons. She wears Marathons at the moment.

My 2010 3075RL has low pressure wheels so to upgrade to LR G I'll need new wheels.

Does anyone have any experience with LionsHead Wheels. They have good prices although I suspect they are made in China. I have sent a request for information but have not received a reply as of yet.

BTW, the Goodyear G614's are out of my price range so I'm leaning towards the Sailun S637.

Truck, trailer and 67 Mustang all need tires this spring so you can see why the 614's are a little out of range.

I have been running Michelin XPS Ribs LT tires on my 3075RL almost since new. 80 psi tires. Over 21,000 miles on the current set and still look practically new. Will age out long before they wear out unless you travel a LOT of miles per year. LT tires are a common replacement on the lighter trailers.

BB_TX..what is the weight of your 3075RL? If I have all this camper weight and tire load numbers figured out, your camper can not weight more than 13,993 lbs. This is how I came to this figure. XPS RIB max load is 3,042lb at 80psi. 3042 x 4= 12,168lbs. Now the king pin will carry some of the weight so lets assume king pin weight is 15%, so if one takes 15% x 12,168=1,825lb, add 1825lb to 12,168=13,993lb the max the camper can weigh without over loading the tires...is this logical figuring? Thanks!!

My 3075RL fully loaded tips the scales at 14500 lbs with a pin weight of 2260 lbs leaving 12240 on the axles. 12240/4=3060. Tires are rated at 3000@80psi so they are overweight according to Goodyear. I see the Michelin's are rated at 3042lbs, not enough.

The S337's or G614 would give me a nice margin and warm fuzzy going down the road.

I'm assuming you crawled under and checked your wheels because my 2010 3665RE came with 110# wheels on it. Not all 2010's had them, but I believe a goodly number did.

Yup, I did. No PSI rating stamped but max load was something like 3250 so I'm assuming they be 80psi wheels.

http://www.trailertiresandwheels.com/ seem to have the best prices for tire/wheel combos. You may need to call them to get the exact combo you want. Many happy customers around here.

I think a lot of the wheels/rims are chinese made. I never had a wheel problem on the 16" rims prior to changing over to 17.5" wheels, which are also chinese made. Not all chinese products are bad, but I agree what we have seen in tires prior to sailuns are not so great.

It has been years since I weighed it and cannot find the weigh ticket. But the total weight was under 13,000 lbs with about 2,100 on the hitch. That leaves me under 11,000 on the tires. The 2007 is listed as 10,450 lbs shipping weight. Don't know how accurate that is. Interestingly, the 2010 is listed at 11,148 shipping weight, 700 lbs more.

But we are not full timers, only sometimers. Most trips are a few days with usually one each year for 2 weeks or so. We do not carry a lot of "stuff", travel with less than a half tank of fresh water, and empty grey/black tanks.

So the Michelins work great for me. Have made several trips across TX heading to CO in late June and July with temps as high as 108. So hot the tires stuck to the asphalt pavement at a rest area near Santa Rosa, NM and I thought my brakes were locked up. But that is another (long) story. Tires on the shady side did not rise much more than the air temp. Tires on the sunny side would rise 15-20 degrees.
