Firestone RideRite Airbags
I just installed a set of RideRites on my 07 F350 dually. The install was pretty straight forward and took about 6 hours (with a few breaks to ponder things). The onboard compressor fits nicely on the inside front right fender (in front of the blower fan) and the switch/guage fits very well in the little drivers glove box. Pretty slick if I do say so myself! I had the same set (kit #2400) on my 04 F250 and they made all the difference in the world. I think it's the best $450 anyone can spend. I'll be pulling across the Smokeys in a week or so and I can't wait to feel the difference on the Monty as well as my butt!

Do they actually improve the rough ride I am experiencing while pulling my 3000RK over poor roads with my 2005 F-250 Super Duty, 6.4 diesel, extended cab.

Gary, you might also look into the air pin for a much smoother ride. We have and love the 5th Airborne. We got it after seeing the posts about the air bags, air pins and hitches and got a good price at CW, including installation and $100 gift certificate. They have sales every so often on them.

I am considering the Ride-Rite Air Bags but also looking at the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System. I'm curious if anyone has experience with both and, if so, do you have a preference? It sounds like they do the same thing and they eliminate having to worry about air lines and air leaks.

When I say "they" eliminate air lines and leaks I'm referring to the Timbren system.

Gary, we have the airbags with compressor and incab control. When on those rough roads I can reach down and adjust the air pressure in the bags, making the ride more comfortable. Usually I can't eliminate all the roughness but it can make a very noticeable difference.

Steve might have already answered my questions but I was wondering if everyone that has bags also have the on-board compressor. My neighbor just installed the bads for his cabover camper but not a compressor and I was wondering if the price for the compressor kit was worth it?
Thanks,
Mac

The onboard compressor is worth it if your not near an air supply, or you don't have a 12 volt air compressor on board!
I really like having it onboard, so that I can change th epressure anytime I feel the need to do so.

Do the bags help improve the ride when not towing, or they mainly used for towing?

I once had air shocks that I had to air up every time we got ready to tow. It's not that difficult but it always seemed to be raining. The onboard compressor is really mostly a convenience item as far as airing up the bags. But to me the big advantage is I can adjust the air pressure while driving down the road, such as when we hit some of that nasty pavement. It helps improve the ride. You'll have to decide for yourself whether it's worth the cost. To me it is, to others it is not.
Nailbender, I run my airbags down to zero when not towing. I find the ride is better that way when solo. The manual says leave about 5 psi in them so they are not damaged if the suspension is bottomed out. I see no way I could ever bottom out the rear suspension on this F250, short of falling off a cliff. And then it's not gonna matter anyhow. So I run them to zero. The short answer to your question is "no."
