2010 3665RE Flooring Project

http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/...hp?albumid=244

We finally removed the carpet in both lower slideouts in our 2010 3665RE and replaced it with vinyl plank flooring. We also removed the couch and built a custom dog cage.

I'm sorry for the pictures being reoriented by the server.

That was a lot of hard work. The floor looks great. The crate looks great too.

Have to ask what color stain did you use for the quarter round? It looks like a perfect match to the existing wood.

Great job. Looks really good. See you floated floor rather than glue down. Did you anchor table down with screws?

That looks great.

Do you know how much weight that added to the trailer?
Did you have any problems with clearance under slide?

Thanks

New flooring project

Looks nice. Where did you purchase the flooring?

Maybe provide some more details about removing the Vinyl and how LONG this effort took?

We have a 2011 3455SA that has an almost identical floor plan. While in Florida this Winter, we are also going to replace the flooring as you did . Your pictures are fantastic and have already confirmed many of my anticipated questions about what we will find when we start ripping up the carpet and deal with the leading edge floor molding transitions on the slides. I may have questions down the road. I hope you don't mind if I reach out to you for specific advice as our project moves forward.

For all of the quarter round, I used Minwax Golden Oak.

On the slides, that was straight off the shelf from Lowes. All I did was cut and used my Ryobi bradnailer.

I used the same screws that held it down initially. Ask me in 1,000 miles if that was the right choice LOL!

All of the flooring, wood molding and Minwax stain came from Lowes. Nothing was special ordered.

There was nothing magic about the flooring job. A simple utility knife was used for the old linoleum and carpeting. I did spend some time going around the carpet edges to make sure there were no staples pointing up.

In 20/20 hindsight, figuring out how I was going to do the slides was probably the only thing that I had to work out a solution for. And that was to add a layer of 5mm Poplar Plywood under the flooring and thermal layer. You just need to get it high enough to clear the plastic hump for the slide. Once it's even the flooring can come to the edge of the slide and not have a crunch zone.

Time wise, the main flooring took about 5 part time days to do that and take all the old stuff to the dump.

The slides took 3 days because I needed to work out the engineering first.

In actual time if I knew how, it would have been a days work.

I used: Ultra 8-Piece 5.91-in x 48.03-in Blue Ridge Pine Luxury Locking Vinyl Plank Flooring

5mm Poplar Plywood, Application as 4 X 8

What part of Florida will you be in? We will be in Spring Hill area.

Great question!

I am assuming you are referring to the carpet area on the lip below the refrigerator ?

That's next project followed by the bedroom and bathroom.

I'll post more pictures if you want to see what it will look like.

Good questions!

No issues on the slides at all! Now getting the slide outside edge molding to correct width to just touch the floor took a bit of analyzing.

My best guess is I added maybe 200#, since the new stuff was offset by the old sand saturated carpet. Soooooo glad that's gone, our Battery powered Dysan vacuum cleaner and a swiffer pad keeps it much cleaner!

Other side of the state, just west of Titusville. Looks like a 2.5-hour day trip if my wife and I could maybe pop over and see your flooring later in the Winter. We're arriving Florida 11/1 and staying until 4/1. Current plans call for painting cabinets and walls first, then doing the floor.
